Since I've been blind in my left eye since birth and can't see 3-D effects, I skipped out on Star Fox 64 3D since the 3-D effects were the main draw of the new game. Plus, even though Star Fox 64 was fun, I didn't like it THAT much to buy it again.

Original Game: Star Fox 64 (1997, N64)
Developer: Nintendo EAD
Remake: Star Fox 64 3D (2011, 3DS)
Developer: Q Games, Nintendo EAD
Star Fox 64 remains the pinnacle of the series after all these years. It was heralded as a big deal when it was coming out, not just for the game itself, but also for the introduction of the rumble pack, which would add excitement to the adventure. It's an amazing game, but those early 3D graphics do look dated. Well, Nintendo decided to revive this classic in 2011 for the brand-new 3DS handheld. This is easily the definitve version of the game. Not only are the graphics better, but playing in 3D is actually great and adds to the experience. The orignal voice actors are back to reprise their roles, which is cool even if those cheesy lines are still humorous. Gyro controls are optional, which allow you to turn the 3DS system in order to control your arwing. The main game has three difficulty settings and there is a multiplayer battle mode, although it is only local. There is no online battle mode. Still, this is a great remake of a Nintendo masterpiece.
