Work was ... interesting today. Let's just say certain meetings don't need to be addressed to everyone and sometimes attacking negativity with more negativity leads to more negativity ... don't mind me, just vague Facebooking on an entertainment website. Clogging up your escape website with gossipy bullshit.
Here's a cat:
Fuck your escapism Charles, I'm tryna start some shit on the Meownternets!
Back to escapism:
So let's play a game. I tell you what excuse I'm using to make sure I don't spend too much money on discounted games in the PS Store this week, and you refute it telling me why I should get that game. If the argument is compelling, I'll make another childlike decision to burn money.
I'm not even gonna ask about the Oscars sale, cause there are a lot on there I want to see, though I do suspect they're listing SD rental prices again in an effort to make those look cheaper than they are.
Here we go:
Inside
It's on sale for $11.99, and I liked the demo, but once I was done with Limbo, I didn't instantly consider it a masterpiece. It was just a 2D puzzle-platfromer with a more interesting aesthetic than usual and I didn't really "get" the story. Plus, am I not better off just watching the Game Grumps playthrough for the "story" part? I could see an argument for the tension coming from actually playing a game; lord knows I can watch RE7 all day long in the dark alone, but I can NOT play that thing without getting stressed.
Also, when the frick is either Shovel Knight or Ducktales Remastered gonna go on sale again, so I can save indie gaming money for those?
Titanfall 2 is on sale for $22.99 and I'm really curious about it. But I don't see a demo and I never played the first one this supposedly improves on. The only FPS I own is Wolfenstein: The New Order, and while I love that games' opening levels, I honestly got tired of it pretty quick. I just don't do great in later FPS levels, and switching from normal (too hard) to easy (might as well not even play) is too big of a gap for me to find a sweet spot. I have no idea if that's relevant here or not.
The giant mech thing seems cool, but will there be anyone to play online with, given this game's relatively poor sales? I dunno if my friend would come over for local multiplayer for this one.
Fallout 4 is $35.99, which is not bad for the game that kept gamers away from porn during its launch. But I always thought F3 looked boring and even though 4 looks really cool and is set in Boston, which I have a lot of love for, I just don't know if it's for me. A colleague actually had me sit down and make a character for some research he was doing, but given how long we were in the character customization (which is not my favorite thing to do in a game), I couldn't tell from just the beginning.
SFV is a PS4 exclusive (I want to own them all at some point) and at $23.99, I might be able to forgive it if there's been a LOT of content added since it first came out. Is there at least a campaign/story/arcade mode now? Cause shit was a demo when I rented it from Red Box March of last year.
I enjoyed the demo and some of the soundtrack for Life is Strange, which is $7.99, but should I play this or the Telltale Batman game?
MGSV is $29.99, but I still haven't played 3 or 4. Plus, a lot of folks seem to think it was a bit half assed because Kojima was leaving Konami?
I really want to play Dishonored 2, but for $44.99 it's still too high for a digital purchase. I think I'd rather just get it via Gamefly.
I liked the Doom demo ok, but not near as pants-jizzingly much as everyone else seems to have. I was never obsessed with the original. I played it and liked it on N64 (so Doom 64), but it wasn't life-changing by any means. It probably won't be $35.99 again for a while, but while I definitely appreciate the lack of reloading and the fact it's not a cover shooter and the fast pace, should I really take a jump on something I feel has been just a tad overhyped? And would local multiplayer be fun enough for friends?
Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator is suuuuper tempting, but I already own the -Sign- version. Is it worth paying $35.99 for an update of my favorite fighting game franchise? Or am I better off just waiting for a sequel?
Finally, I do really like the concept behind Furi, but I kinda want to play a demo before buying it at $13.99.
There are Deus Ex titles for sale, but I've never played one. Not sure I'd like it or not.
So ... what say you, Pixlbit? Anything you think I should just go ahead and buy?
