hmmmm, I don't know. maybe if stuff went on when you're away from your console/game, or not playing and things were still happening in some fashion? that would be cool.
Yeah, VII looks GOOD.

Hello friends, hope you're having a great week. I skipped yesterday because I had nothing of interest to say and I'm sure no one needs to hear me babble or complain about work. This random warm weather spell that has taken over Chicago has done well for my seasonal depression and I feel more upbeat today. Too bad it's going to snow this weekend.
Have you seen the new Final Fantasy VII screen shots that have come out within the past few days? I'm mind blown. I'm used to the characters looking refined and rendered from Advent Children, but damn! Here you go, in case you've missed them:
So much to look forward to.But you know what I really want to see more of? Companion apps. Not just lame afterthoughts that help you navigate, but an app that can help you with gameplay. When I was playing Call of Duty, there was a clan companion app that went along with the multiplayer aspect of the game. I could see my clan members and any details involved in wars that were going on during the time. I remember sitting at work and be able to check to see if we had lost of gained bases. It kept me excited about the game and made me want to keep playing. Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Unity, I believe, had companion apps as well but it was more just a mobile map than anything really integrated.
I guess I'm picturing something that could be used, for example, in FFXV and in this new FFVII. Show me my progress. Show me timed hunts and more info about them. Let me work on my materia and magic spell crafting, or integrate Cid's weapon crafting missions into something I can take with me on the go.
I do not play Overwatch or Splatoon, but I would imagine something like this would be very popular with those games if they are not already available.
Thoughts? Would you use something like this for your favorite game?
Right, like if I had access to what I'll refer to as "main menu tasks". Things like crafting, building, growing, organizing...little gameplay things I could do to help my progress in the actual game without having to be on the console. I would really enjoy that.
VII looks insane, I am so excited for it! I know they are releasing it in stages, but I wonder what exactly that means.
I just want games to tell me how close I am to getting a trophy in them. Like how many weeble dee wobbles have I killed already? Cause I don't want to go all the way back to their fortress yet if it's 8, but if it's 3/10 of them, fine.
And OMG FFVII looks awesome. I think the remake might become my introduction to the series if they're still planning on scrapping the turn-based aspect.
Companion apps are cool. I think there was a good one for Fallout. Also, I always wanted to use Halo Waypoint on a phone. I had it on Xbox 360 and it would track your progress across all the Halo games and give you a rank and stuff. There should be more of those for sure. I don't know why it isn't a thing for every major release. Seems a natural thing to do.
