Anticipation is BaD

But aside from the Emperor Palpatine news that enters my Facebook feed every day, it's actually a pretty relaxing day. I didn't have much as far as lectures and what I'm grading this weekend is not going to take all that much time.

The anticipation for Horizon: Zero Dawn and the Switch is killing me. I need to swing by Gamestop and ask if there's still a pre-order bonus, cause I know I'll get the game at this point. A lot of elements remind me a lot of the rebooted Tomb Raider games, particularly the shots of the protagonist climbing up one of the robots the way Lara climbs up landcsapes.

All the same, it still looks like its own, gorgeous, thing.

And of course, there's the anticipation for Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which looks AMAZING but which I may or may not buy a Switch to play. I'll post the Top 10 Watchmojo video I just watched here, because there are a couple other games I'd like (Mario Odyssey, Fast Remix), but the only one I'd contemplate buying a whole new system for is definitely Zelda (it sure as hell ain't Skyrim). That system might end up being Wii U ...

I'll probably see Get Out over the weekend and try to avoid stares while being a white guy doing so. My best friend was thinking about Fist Fight but he's going to Houston this weekend and that movie screams "rental" to me, so I may or may not find someone to go with.

What are your weekend plans, Pixlbit?

My weekend plans?  Well I'll be working through most of it, but anytime I'm at home and am not TOO tired, I will be playing and reviewing LEGO games!

Well, it's my first true weekend (sat and sun) I've had in a very long time. I'm going to try and enjoy it as much as possible and think about my life situation on Monday.

It's hard for me to get excited for Zelda games anymore. They rehashed the same formula so many times, that even now that they've finally shaken things up with Breath of the Wind, I've lost interest. The new Zelda does look like it might be the best one since Ocarina though.

I'd argue majora's mask and minish cap changed up the formula a bit. I think zelda is way more inventive than, say, other franchise games. I don't see a general formula as a bad thing.

Get Out was amazing. It strikes this great balance between Hitchcock and The Twilight Zone while still being fresh since it obviously comes from some of Jordan Peele's experiences. The audience I saw it with was almost entirely white, but that's mainly because Austin is almost entirely white these days.

Horizon definitely has a Tomb Raider vibe, which I dig, and I'm happy to hear that the story is interesting the whole way through. I'm not a Zelda fan, but hearing Dan talk about it on this week's Beastcast got me legit excited for it. But I'm playing Horizon first.

Dan ... Hsu?

Dan Ryckert. Sadly, Dan Hsu works for Sony now, and they keep their employees on a tight leash. Maybe once a year Shane Bettenhausen gets to be on the 8-4 Play podcast.

Hey Horizon Zero. I went with my cousin when he picked up his copy. The launch line was him, two randoms who were discussing if running around on rooftops is considered a sandbox game, and me, but I was roaming around the GameStop. I got a poster.

As for that weekend you posted this I bought some CDs and listened to music all weekend.
