I used to watch the oscars a long time ago. I was much more into movies back then. I'm not so into them anymore, for some reason, though I wish I watched more of them. But if I had a choice to make movies or games, I think I would pick games.

So this happened:
P.S. Double Toasted is AMAZING
One thing I will say: this definitely wasn't Warren Beatty's fault. He was given the wrong card and even looked at Faye Dunaway before she announced the wrong movie. And I don't consider it her fault either. It's whoever is responsible for handing off those cards.
Anyway, this took me down from 11/24 on my Oscars ballot to 10/24. I honestly thought Beatty was trying to feign excitement for La La Land because it felt so predictable. I even bet my roommate a Wheat Thin it would be them winning and not Moonlight. (In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't up the ante like I was going to because I was so confident.
I have seen exactly 0 best picture nominees from this year, so don't ask me who I think deserves to win. I was just guessing at the Academy's picks.
Here's how I did in all the categories:

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE

As for the ceremony itself, it was overlong and dragged on as usual. I did like Kimmel as the host, but there's only so much good will anyone can gather from me for 4-5 hours when I have to be at work the next morning.
Here are the segments I remember being enjoyable (to be fair, I was grading or doing other things and ocassionally checking my Oscars Challenge ballot, so it's not like I was glued to the TV to catch everything by any means):
Justin Timberlake said parents who let their kids listen to some of his music are "bad parents" and I guess he wanted to make something his kids could listen to
There were political jokes, but it wasn't anywhere near SNL levels. There was a lot of referencing the Meryl Streep/Trump feud throughout the night.
I also appreciated the callbacks to Kimmel v. Matt Damon, especially this segment poking fun at a segment done more seriously at other points in the night:
If anyone's curious, the Damon jokes are callbacks to this:
EIGHT YEARS AGO?! No, YouTube, YOU'RE OLD! *cries*
This kinda felt like the pizza ordering/selfies Ellen did when she hosted
And if you want to see any other highlights they're all on Kimmel's YouTube. Was it worth it to stay up for these awards? No, not really. Am I still going to do it every year? Yes, because I really like movies and I don't have cable to watch gaming awards shows.
