Bioshock Infinite vs. Doctor Who

I was truly torn.

I had gotten some best buy gift cards and I did not know what to do with them. I did know that I wanted to spend it on one of two things.
1. Classic Doctor Who.
2. Bioshock Infinite.
At the time I did not know which option was more appealing to me. Both are things that I love. Doctor who is my favourite television show, ever. There are plenty of other shows that I love, but they tie for second. Shows like chuck, star trek: tos, red dwarf, fringe, and all of joss whedon's collection are sadly second string to doctor who. I have been slowly amassing a collection of the classic series and am up to nearly two dozen serials. I have yet to be dissappointed. So, I am eager to continue to expand my collection. Best buy always seems to have some of the classic serials on sale and I have been eyeing the key to time arc and the dalek war arc. Both are about 50% off, which is great, because I do not really want to spend $100 on the key to time story arc. Back to the point, I love doctor who and was thinking of getting some more with birthday cash.

Bioshock Infinite is another beast entirely. I throroughly enjoyed playing Bioshock, and enjoyed bioshock 2 even more. I would like to give more time to mgs3 than I gave to mgs2 because I have rather fond memories of mgs3. So, I am not too eager to dive right into snake eater. While I am working my way through Halo4 again, I am doing it with the weakly challenges. So, one level a week assuming that the challenges work with me. So, that leaves me with a little void as to what to play next. I still have a few other things in my backlog, but they are not screaming my name. Bioshock Infinite is screaming my name.

So, I was torn. Two things that I really wanted. With little help in making the decision. Then I decided to stop in a best buy. I never expect them to have the greatest selection of doctor who, and I was right. They did not have what I was looking for, but they did have Bioshock Infinite. So, I went with that.

One other thing of note. I found out that I had a bunch of reward zone money from best buy. So, I bought the dalek war anyways.  At that point it became a tough decision between doctor who stories.

Have they ever thought of making a Dr. Who video game? A series that has been around for decades must have some titles released in the U.K. at least.

I watched the show in the 70's and the early 80's but didn't really understand what was going on. It did have that cool intro, though. The KLF were big fans of the show, as well.

Glad to hear it went from BioShock Infinite VS Dr Who to BioShock Infinite AND Dr Who Laughing Now the question is which to enjoy first...

You totally inspired me to watch some old doctor who. I have stories 1-3 now in my amazon cart from back in the 60s.

I have been meaning to get the beginning collection.  I feel bad that I have not spent all that much time with the first doctor.

So if Telltale made a Doctor Who game, I'm guessing you'd have gone with that?

Either way, glad your decision was made easier. I know this sets people off, but I actually sometimes prefer having less options, makes things easier.

Yes, I most certainly would have.  Telltale has done some great work.

It is nice to have options, but so many times it is impractical.

I love the classic Dr. Who that I grew up with. Guess eventually I will have to give the new ones a chance. I may start collecting them myself. Bioshock Infinite was the game I missed the most while on vacation. It's the best game I've played this past year. You made a wise choice on that one.

i love bioshock right now.  I think that I am about halfway through it.  there was a blog on ign that compared bioshock infinite and doctor who.

Why not have the best of both universes?
