Good morning Pixlpeeps! Earlier this morning I was greeted by my phone ringing 30 minutes before my alarm goes off. It was a NY number so I answered and asked do you know what time it is on the West Coast. On the other end of the line it was a the sounds of a busy call center which means WINDOWS SCAM GUY is on the phone. He greeted me with my computer has a virus. It was go time, and I was ready. I said ok let me get my laptop. He proceeded to tell me that I needed to concentrate on my keyboard and to find the windows button. I should push that and the R button. I said ok. I then asked what does that do, and at first he was was a little apprehensive about telling me but eventually he did. He asked what do I see on the screen. I said nothing, and this back and forth went on a couple more times before I informed Windows Scam Guy that I forgot to turn on my laptop. It went silent and then he hung up. I'm legit disappointed that he gave up so quickly. Usually they will get all uppity and try to intimidate me with threats about the police coming. This is where I tell them there is no way my laptop should be telling them that my laptop isn't sending them signals and there's no way he can call the police from India and the police have better things to do. After that I leave my phone on because they won't hang up. Now guy hung up and all my fun for the morning ended abruptly. Oh well that number goes to the block list.

Alright folks let's get started with Quick Hits because I need to get going on some fun activities for the day.

Chris Listens To Music....

In my quest to listen to all the remaining tracks that haven't been played in my iTunes I am still on track. Currently there are 50,479 tracks in my iTunes library and out of that I have 8515 tracks that I haven't listened to yet. The goal for February was to listen to 1,400 tracks and I listened to 1,436 tracks. I also added 493 new tracks to the library, adding to a total of 1,423 new tracks for this year.

As for the podcasts I'm on the fence if I should remove the Adam Carolla Podcast from my podcast lineup. The show hasn't changed much since I first started listening and its usually the same rants: terrible parents, terrible friends, family doesn't care, Jimmy Kimmel, his dog, etc. The podcast is fine but I feel I can listen to it once a week and feel like I'm not missing anything.

Lego Dimensions At the .99 Cents Only Store

It seems like the excitement from finding Lego Dimensions packs at the .99 Cents Only Stores have diminished. The once wall of packs have disappeared and many of the different sets are gone. The only thing left are Bart Simpson Fun Packs, Homer Simpson Level Packs, and random Lord of the Rings and some random Chima Fun Packs. I hope the people who actually wanted the packs got them and not the resellers on eBay. As for what I bought I bought the stuff I wanted: new pieces for my game and extra minifigures for my collection

The bin of extra Lego Dimensions pieces, and minifigures. Eventually I will sort out the pieces and add them to my Lego collection.

My bag full of Lego Dimensions minifigure and vehicle bases

The bag of various pieces and weapons

The instruction booklets. They really aren't instructions because they only show you how to assemble the minifigures. The vehicle instructions are online or in the game when you first place the minifigures on the portal.

The extra minifigures for my Lego Collection. I thought about buying more Portal Level Packs for the Portal guns but when I went back they were all gone. So was all the little Samurai Ninjango figures.

Pickups

Games

Week number 3 where I didn't buy any games. I came close, there was a $1 bundle that had one game I thought about.

Music

Lots of music

From the mom and pop

Early 2000s electronic music. The Wild Gold is a compilation of all the “big hits” of the time. Songs like Darude's Sandstorm, DJ Sammy's Heaven, Zombie Nation, Daft Punk's Da Funk, Prodigy Firestarter, Vengaboys We Like To Party, and ATB's 9PM. The three disc set is pretty good. ATB's Seven Years is a Greatest Hits with a couple of songs I remember from college so just like Wild Gold, the songs were added to various playlists.

One Tree Hill Vol. 2 is more music from the show. There were not as many songs from this album that liked compared to the previous album but I still found some new stuff I liked. Great Balls of Fire soundtrack is mostly (except for I think three songs) Jerry Lee Lewis.

I didn't have the most updated CD list on my phone so I accidentally bought Tiesto's album again. Onto the donate pile it goes. The Vanessa Carlton album is the follow-up to Be Not Nobody which I really enjoyed, but this one didn't have any “must listen” to songs for me. It was solid but nothing stood out.

The Offspring, I bought this album for Want You Bad. That song was on a Disney Mix I used to listen to while on the way to work at the park during the summer. I found a couple of other songs I liked on there as well. The Time was a waste of money. I didn't care for any of the tracks.

Public Enemy is a four track CD Single for Can't Do Nuttin' For Ya Man. It was a UK release and I dig two of the four tracks, the other two tracks are an instrumental, and the other song is radio friendly track which I don't like because its censored. The Source Presents Hip Hop Hits is a compilation of popular rap tracks. I had most of them but there were four or five tracks I didn't have the full albums to so for now it will be a place holder until I can track down the albums

Cobra is the score to the 80s flick where Stallone is a cop who protects a woman from a gang of killers that she was an accidental witness to one of their murders. The movie is full on 80s goodness. I wasn't a fan of Foxy Brown's Chyna Doll.

I've been tracking down some Hall & Oates albums because I wanted to listen to their deep cuts. This album has a lot of the 80s electronic sound and a couple of tracks I thought were pure garbage filler tracks. Mama Cass' Greatest Hits was an enjoyable listen. I liked this album enough to include the whole thing on my Oldies playlist although there maybe some overlap with the Mamas And Papas Greatest Hits.

Led Zeppelin didn't stick out to me. Limp Bizkit is one of those bands I kinda liked in their era but now not so much. The only thing I remember about their single Rollin' was that Undertaker used it when he was Biker Undertaker.

From Target

Yeah I bought the 50 Shades Darker Soundtrack. I liked the previous soundtrack and this one had that Taylor Swift song. In addition to that song I found a couple of others including a couple of covers that I really liked. I refuse to watch any of the films but I like the soundtracks.

The final CD Pickup is

10 Discs, 9 Albums including a first edition of his new album for $9. I'm not a big Garth fan but I have to say I enjoyed listening to all 9 albums...ok 8 of the 9. I really didn't care for his Covers album. Everything else was really good. There might have been a lot of Greatest Hits action in some of these albums (probably all of them) but I enjoyed it anyways. He's a good story teller, and his Live Album was fun because one of the tracks he let the fans sing the first verse. For $9 this box set is a steal!

My final pickups for the week is this

I think it was fate that I had to buy the Warthog considering how hard it is to find yet I ran into it three times. I picked up another KITT so now I can open it and make that Woo Woo sound it used to make. This will be my holdover until I get around to buying the Lego Dimensions Michael Knight Fun Pack.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Have a good weekend!

That's all for now, more later!

-Chris

Ok so here is one of the songs I wanted to add to my Island Mix but didn't get a chance to. This is just a fun song despite the subject.

I have a bunch. I'm debating on hitting the local 99 Cents Only Store today just to see if maybe anything new hit the floor. If not I might buy up the remaining Homer Simpson Level Packs.

I hate those dudes. They prey on folks who don't know any better and then demand a lot of money when they get control of their computers. That's why I have no problems messing with them and wasting their time.

I mostly get fake virus warnings on my phone. Who knew YouTube and Facebook were adult websites compromising my data? Did you? I didn’t know that. At least your scammers say something. I get tons of calls from out-of-state that just hang up.

Carolla definitely likes to complain about the same things a lot.  Maybe some of his audience is growing old and cranky with him, but I’m just not there yet.

I dig “want you bad” as well. Good song. I should buy more hip hop. Foxy Brown looks foxy.

Hall & Oates and Led Zep are great bands, but I dunno if I care about any Zep past IV.

Limp Bizkit is one band whose songs/singles I still like, but as a whole I can see why they’re not really a cultural mainstay now. I joke that us early 90s babies who really had our formative years in the late 90s/early 2000s like to claim we’re “90s kids” mostly cause we’re too embarrassed to admit how popular stuff like Limp Bizkit and Nickelback was. In my opinion, nothing is worse than “The Reason” by Hoobastank. I liked “Crawling in the Dark” by that band though.

As I always remind people, I saw Bruce Springsteen live in Dallas for free when we hosted the final four and he crowd surfed right next to me. Cool

I saw on the news where the calls now do a thing where the automated person says "can you hear me" and when you say yes they record it and try to use it to open accounts or something odd. Now I just pick up the phone, and don't say a word.

I've decided to not listen to Carolla for a week. If I miss it, then I'll go back, if not well then it was a fun run.

I've been wanting to just buy rap CDs on Amazon but most of them now have the Add-On price which means I have to spend $25 bucks before I can buy the albums. I'll stick to the mom and pop.

I was never a fan of Nickelback. Their lead singer bothered me for some reason. Linkin Park is still out and about. My friend saw them I think in Vegas last year. I think they might have a new album.

If I saw Bruce live I would always remind folks as well.

I'll have to tell my parents not to accept calls from unknown numbers. I think they already don't, but just remind them why not to.

I think I'd mostly listen to the Adam and Dr. Drew show, since I listened to so much Loveline in junior high.

$25 for a single album? That's worse than the CD prices people used to complain about!

I actually liked some of Nickelback's older stuff, but it was because it was depressing and I was a depressed teen. Didn't much care for "Photograph," but "Rockstar" was catchy. The dude definitely has a raspy, country, constipated voice; I see why people don't like them, but I just think they're generic as opposed to "the worst." I still like Linkin Park. They have a unique sound.

My terrible wording strikes again. Amazon wants people to spend $25 before buying certain albums at $3-4 bucks. It's insane, but what can you do other than visit another site for CDs.

Maybe I should start listening to Adam and Dr. Drew again. I stopped because at the time I was already listening to the main show, Ace on the House, and Adam and Dr. Drew.

Oh so until you spend $25 in their store you can't access certain lower-priced CDs. Gothca.

I'm still extremely grateful for what you did for me regarding LEGO Dimensions.

I thought I was done with Hot Wheels (again) until I decided to get that car and now apparently Hot Wheels made the Guardians of the Galaxy ship. If I can find it, it will go along with my USS Enterprise from Star Trek as the only non cars in my Hot Wheels collection.

Ooo Guardians. I'll have to look out for that. I got Mark the NC1701 Star Trek ship the other day. It's the JJ Abrams sleek redesign though. For me, I prefer pure classic design.

I think the one I have is one from one of the Capt. Kirk movies. I know its not the TV show because the shape is more round. I look for it later on tonight.
