Games Beat

-Magicka 2 (PS4) (PS+)

Magicka 2 is all about zany friendly-fire spell casting. Being able to combine up to 5 of the 8 elements (multiples stack for greater power) adds a lot of variety and depth to the frantic combat. I imagine on the higher difficulties a lot of careful strategy is required as well, but even normal had some tough spots. There is a good variety to the enemies and the tactics they employ. The graphics and music are fine and the story is...there. But the game is just dang fun. I'd play it again.

-Destiny: Rise of Iron (PS4)

We got Rise of Iron because Destiny 2 was delayed, and it feels like that. Filler. But the act of playing Destiny is as fun as ever, especially with friends, and this was fun content to play through, even if some of it became repetitive. In the end it's more Destiny and that's not a bad thing.

Games Bought

I started February with a copy of Dragon Quest, which is the first time I've ever tracked an iOS game I've bought but hey, it's been on a few other systems before, ya know? At the end of the month I got Torment: Tides of Numenera (PS4). Looks like this will be a pretty cool RPG. In between those I got the month's PS+ games. LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4) will provide some good co-op fun and Ninja Senki DX (PS4/Vita) is a legit old school-ish action game, or so I've heard. The others are the typical unknowns: Not a Hero (PS4); Starwhal (PS4/PS3); Anna - Extended Edition (PS3); and TorqueL (PS4/Vita).

Now Playing

-Gravity Rush 2 (PS4)

About done with the main storyline in this awesome game but I'm gonna stick with it after that and mop up some of the other stuff left to do after that. Plus there's a free bit of story DLC coming for it this month. Can't complain about that!

-God Eater 2: Rage Burst (PS4)

Finally dipped back into crafting the other night. Made a shield that did my base defense stat a real favor and I'm one material away from making a nice ice sword.

-Destiny: Rise of Iron (PS4)

I may have "beaten" this game but there's still some more to do...mostly more the raid, but Bungie is also making a big announcement next Wednesday about the transition from Destiny to Destiny 2 (coming later this year). I'm very intrigued to see what they have to say.

-Dragon Quest (iOS)

Been doing some grinding. Crossing those bridges can be pretty brutal!

Mainly dl'd LBP3 so i could play it with family during during break.

Gravity rush 2 looks awesome, but i knew horizon was going to be my new game for the month. Been excited for it since e3.

Aw, man, don't go the popular route! Gravity Rush 2 is so good. Horizon is gorgeous, yes, but I have a feeling it's going to turn out to be much more of a rote open world game than most reviews are letting on. But I hope you'll play GR2 eventually.

I played the demo and enjoyed it, but there were times the controls were a bit hard to get used to and the demo had some repetitive beat-em-up elements. It looked cool though.

I REALLY want torment, but I'm trying hard not to buy it. I think I'm gonna spend the money on a new PC Xbox controller for my computer instead.

Playing the fantasy style DLC in Borderlands 2 today made me realize I haven't played a open world RPG for a while. Got to get on that.

Borderlands 2 has fantasy DLC??

The Tiny Tina DLC was like a D&D adventure with dragons, and townsfolk, and skeletons and stone golems, and evil mages throwing fireballs and grumpy dwarves. It poked fun at it all too.
