It feels odd to not have to write a new entry everyday. Granted I didn't have to write much during BaD but it was still fun to wake up, and write about a song that was on a list. Anyways I am now getting back to a normal posting schedule of just Monday and Friday, I do miss the fun of BaD. Since we are in a new month its time to take a look back at February and see what I finished in the month.

I guess I only started one new game in the month while I finished off two games from last year. In total three games isn't bad. Hopefully in March I can knock more games off of Mount Backlog. So far I have started two new games in March.

Games I'm Playing

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit – Steam

I haven't touched this series in a while and last night after complaining about WWE Fastlane (the latest WWE Pay Per View) I decided to play something fast and this is what I ended up with. I still have a long ways to go before even thinking about finishing the game but I decided to play a couple of races to get my mind off of how bad that main event was. The races I played were more of the time trial variety and since I am nowhere near the halfway point, my cars aren't as fast so winning with a gold medal time was out of the question.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games – 3DS

I started playing this game during the kickoff match of the Pay Per View and I may have played it during parts of the PPV as well. Since this is my first exposure to the Mario & Sonic sports game I thought this was going to be like Mario Tennis where its fun playing a sports game with characters you like in a decent sports simulator. Instead this is setup more like a collection of mini-games set within the Olympics. You start with picking a side: Team Mario or Team Sonic. Whichever you pick you have the traits of that character. For Mario you can jump really high and always check the castle the princess isn't in, or you can be the awesome spinning Blue Hedgehog and your boost is speed. Naturally I went Sonic, and then trained my Mii to take on Yoshi in a race. Apparently Yoshi is really fast but I found if I hit the NoS button early he can't catch up.

So far the games are simple for running I just button mash the A button, to train I had to move the 3DS based on the on screen commands, and use the stylus to scribble back and forth during a relay race. This isn't a bad game but I was kind of expecting more.

Tomb Raider: The Prophecy – Game Boy Advance

While waiting for Billions to start I started this game just to check it out, and soon after watching Billions while starting to fall asleep I was roaming through this side scrolling/top down Tomb Raider

It is your basic Tomb Raider game, solve puzzles, search for items, try to escape from bad guys trying to kill you, and proceed through the game.

It is a little odd playing TR like this but hey its something new and I'm into it.

The perspective is a little wonky because sometimes to progress to the top of the screen you either climb a ladder or just walk. I get this is because of the restrictions of the GBA but funny anyways.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I have a weird craving for soup for breakfast so hopefully the local fancy grocery store has their soups all heated and ready to go. Have a good week!

That's all for now, more later!

I love the modern Tomb Raiders, but I keep hearing the old ones had more focus on puzzles. I guess folks aren't doing all the side quests I am. What's irking me right now in Rise is I've already completed all 4 tombs in Geothermal Valley, but when I go to the mission giver who wants me to find all the tribe's ancient secrets via completing said tombs, Lara said she hasn't found all of them. Yes you did, B***! I can see that you did on my map! So I don't know if that's a glitch or what.

Edit: Looking it up, it says you must complete "all 9 challenge tombs." So ok, only 4 are in that area. That's where I got confused.

From what I remember from the older TR games is that there might have been more puzzle elements but I think that was meant to slow down you progression in the game. The current series seems to have a good mix of puzzles as well as side missions. What I like about the new games is that you don't get weapons right away and I don't have to search for health packs when I get injured.

On topic:

Man, I loved Hot Pursuit. I don't get why the new NFS doesn't let you play as cops.

I kinda figured the Olympics were mini-games. I saw Hot Shots Tennis on sale for PSN last night. I haven't played a tennis video game in a while. Those are fun.

I'd love an on-the-go collection of old Tomb Raiders to see what they're like. That has to exist, right?

I'm saving the cops stuff for the end of the game. I think you can play as cops in NFS Rivals, the always online game. I stuck with the racer portion of the game. The game is actually fun because you get chased through out the world even when you're trying to complete missions, but you can bank your progress when you get close to a base.

Hot Shots Tennis was the best. I played a lot of it on the PSP. The Hot Shots series was just a lot of fun.

I think other than the GBA Tomb Raider there was one for that failed phone/handheld gaming system. The N-Gage. That's the name of the system.

Hahaha I remember NGage and Snoop Dogg ads for it. I also remember when the Motorolla Razor was the best phone you could buy.
