Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is the rare Saturday Quick Hits but yesterday I was caught up in things like trying to not eat meat (the one legit Catholic thing I do a year), breaking in some shoes, and not being in the mood to write something for the normal Quick Hits time. This morning however I felt that I should write something and I have a couple of things I'd like to write about.
Random Observations:
-
People being loud at the bank: Standing in line yesterday I got to people watch and at the teller windows one guy was on the phone giving his password to his account to the employee, another man was giving directions about which denominations he wanted from the cash he's pulling out, and another guy said “the big bills” when pulling money out. You would think people pulling out cash would be more discrete.
-
Turn signals: Why is it so hard for people to use? Next person who's running for president who says not using them is a crime is getting my vote.
-
Dog owners: Clean up after your freaking dog. I live in an area where HOA provides (by provides I means charges everyone) a place at every little grass area/park bags and a place to dispose of “the doggy gifts” yet some folks won't use them.
-
Rude Retail Employees: My brother sent me a text earlier this week that Walmart was blowing out older iPads for $78 bucks, and one of the local stores had one in stock. I went with my cousin to check and the employee made is sound like we were disrespecting him by asking if they had it. “Why would we sell iPads for that price? They're worth more than that” was his classy response. No sh*t but Walmart loves to put random things on clearance. (I missed out on their $40 2TB external hard drive clearance)
While roaming around Walmart I saw the new Lego Battle Packs. These are basically sets people buy to add more minifigures to their collections and they used to be like $10 (I think maybe a year ago)
$15 bucks. I'll wait for a sale before I stock up on the Storm Troopers Battle Packs so I can have some Death Troopers from Rogue One.
Chris Watches...
I've been a subscriber to the WWE Network for a couple of years now, and at $10 a month its not bad because I enjoy NXT (I haven't watched in a couple of weeks) and I get all the Pay Per Views. Last week's Pay Per View was terrible. This was a Raw PPV and the story telling isn't good, there was no intrigue, and let's face it putting the belt on Goldberg just so he can lose it to Brock at Mania is such a terrible storyline. I would have rather seen Kevin Owens keep the belt and have him face Jericho. This is the story they built up but slapping the belt on two big guys is just boring especially if both guys are part timers.
I don't watch eGames and apparently its like a big deal now. My friend sent me an article where teams can trade for other players and teams can be relegated. I guess they're taking some aspects from Professional Soccer. Also just like the Madden Challenge, I can't watch and enjoy watching people play video games. If its on the couch with friends and family then its fun, but on TV, streaming on Twitch and other places, its just not my thing.
Chris Listens To...
I've taken a week break from the Adam Carolla Show and honestly I don't really miss it. I used to love to listen to his show but it hasn't evolved much, and there are other shows now that I like. The newest one is Joe Budden's I'll Name This Podcast Later is a fun show where it sounds like friends are just talking. It comes out once a week and for me its a fun listen. I found another one that I really liked which is about a TV show until they got political. If I want politics I'll go find one for it, I just want a show that is entertaining about the topic they promised.
As for my quest to listen to all remaining un-listened to songs on iTunes last Friday the zero plays playlist was at 8,420 songs because I added 15 digital tracks. As of yesterday I am at 8,103. I added 24 songs during that week, which averages out to around 46 songs because of the additions even though I have been listening to at least 50 new songs a day. Of course since today is Saturday I am going to check out the local mom & pop as well as a couple of other spots looking for new music and most likely I will be adding to the zero plays playlist. Also when I get home today I will get back to ripping my vinyl to iTunes. I'm almost done with the albums but the 45s are going to be a handful.
Pickups:
Games
Again I didn't buy anything but I did get a couple of freebie games from Origin
Syberia II and Hard Reset Redux From Twitch.
I'm trying this game out this weekend because its a free weekend on I believe PS4/X1/PC
So far it is a fun game that is really pretty.
Music
From a church run thrift store that always has various levels of discounts depending on the person running the desk and if they remember the color coded price tags
A Boss Nova version of Nora Jones Music and Hawaiian singer Keali'i Reichel. I aso got two audio books on audio cassette
Les Miserables and The Fourth K. I'm excited to be able to use my USB Audio Cassette Player and I ripped both and they currently live in my iTunes. I'm going to hit up a Thrift Store later on today to search for more audio books on tape....and maybe some CDs. Anyways I bought all four for $2.75. I have no idea which ones were on sale.
Toys
Walmart's Clearance aisle no longer had the Lego Batman Movie Walmart Edition of two sets for $30 (you basically got the set with Joker and the Balloons for free because Riddler's car by itself is $30) Anyways I spotted this for $2
I don't collect action figures but I might give this away to a younger cousin who's into Star Wars. I also bought the Lego Batman Movie Blind Bags searching for the Kiss Batman figure. I didn't get it but I got these figures
Harley Quinn and Bat Girl are two new figures to my collection.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I need to get ready to go look for some new music. Before I go I saw the Alexa video that someone posted on Facebook where if you ask it if its connected to the CIA it shuts down. I tried it with Siri and I got this answer
I don't trust Siri
That's all for now, more later!
