Happy Birthday Laptop And What I Am Playing

Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a very windy day here in what is usually sunny Southern California. I had my hands full yesterday so I wasn't able to write my usual What I Am Playing blog while eating breakfast, but today it is a different story, and I am ready to give an update on what I have been playing. Sound like fun? Let's get started!
Happy Birthday Laptop!
I forgot to mention this last week, but it has been a year since I bought my laptop from Amazon. I saw a deal on Slick Deals, and used the tax return money on a new laptop, mouse, additional stick of ram, and a second 2TB hard drive (the laptop has an M.2 stick for the OS, and an empty hard drive bay) that is home to my iTunes library, some Steam games, and other goodies. I have since bought an external 4TB drive for the rest of my Steam library, and currently is home to the DVDs I have currently ripped. There is also a folder of books that need to be converted for iTunes so I can read them on iBooks.
So in my one year I have jumped from 100% console gaming to 70/30 PC to console gaming. There are still some things I need to figure out but overall I'm glad I was able to buy a machine that is my all in one entertainment/work center and still kicks some major behind.
What Chris Is Playing...
Borderlands – Steam
I have to admit this is my least favorite of the three games. I am not enjoying it so I am finding it hard to play through the game. It isn't as fun as B2 was, maybe because B2 was my first real experience with the franchise, but this game feels slower. Of course part of this is probably because I tend to jump into situations where I am over matched but other times when I am at the same level it still isn't an enjoyable. I'll play through it but after that I probably won't touch it.
Mortal Kombat XL – Steam
I jumped on a 24 hour sale last night because the game with everything dropped to $8.99. I'm glad I waited because a couple of days ago it was $10, and yes I know it isn't much of a difference in price but that extra penny off made all the difference for me. I did spend $100 for the vanilla copy on PS4, and Season Pass but that was because I was caught up in the MK hype (I like to blame teenage Chris because of original MK). I need to relearn the moves and Fatalities but thankfully there is a menu that shows you everything.
NBA 2K16 – Steam
I'm still playing my season with the Gulls and I am enjoying this team. I have no reason to make any roster moves for the rest of the season and I think this is the squad that could go undefeated. In the offseason I need to address the one glaring hole and that is backup Center. I currently have one but I'd like someone more mobile that can rebound. I don't need scoring, because I have three guards that can handle that but I do need rebounding. I also think my backup Power Forward is going to retire so I need to replace him as well, maybe more rebounding.
Silver Bullet: The Prometheus – iOS
Stop me if you've heard this game plot before: Something happened at a Military base, and you're sent in to investigate. Turns out there's zombies and crazy monsters so naturally you shoot everything in your path and find random health packs and ammunition lying around. That's basically this game. It was the free app of the week a couple of weeks ago and it was living on my phone. I finally decided to play it and well I am not a fan so I decided to play it as far as I could on one player and when that character ate it I was going to uninstall the app.
I think I played through 9 of the 30 available levels before I called it a quits when I was taken out by a Metal Gear like robot. I took on everything from protecting really dumb survivors from Zombies, to following a cat, to trying to destroy a mutated Whale/Squid/random animal with a pair of handguns. On screen controls were fine considering my phone is the plus model but everything else was blah. To be fair I think the whole zombie craze is stupid (really people preparing for zombie attacks in real life?) so I have my bias but I just didn't enjoy this game. The levels were short and I didn't enjoy any of it, plus the dialogue boxes are annoying.
Mortal Kombat X – Android
I decided that I was going to complete the game again but play all through the game with the new levels, and maybe along the way get all my fighters to level 50. There's currently a Tournament to unlock a new special character which I am almost finished with, but my one goal is to finish the story mode.
Speaking of Android I am cleaning out my tablet of stuff I don't use. I got rid of the emulators and roms that took up 50% of the 32GB Micro SD card, I also removed three huge games that I no longer play and I have maybe a handful of games on my tablet. I am keeping the space free in case I want to jump in and download and play some of the items from previous Humble Bundle sales. I also started looking at new Android tablets that are faster than my current tablet but I don't want to spend that much. I'll probably wait until August when all the Back to School sales start happening before I jump on a new tablet.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Have a good week!
That's all for now, more later!
-Chris
