Guys, Girls! What do you all think of Toukiden?

I'm playing the Toukiden 2 demo on PS4 and it reminds me a lot of Ys games. It really doesn't feel like Monster Hunter, more like Dragons Dogma honestly, although I think from the demo I think DD is a better game. So far it's very hack n slashy and on the easy side. A little too simplistic. Does the game get deeper? So far the bosses just come down to cutting down their health and not much strategy like a MH game? Its okay, but I'd say it's monster hunter light. Did anyone play the first game and how does it compare to MH?

Update: Okay, the fist real boss fight in the demo killed me a couple of times, but I was aided by an NPC party member and regenerated health and stayed in the fight long enough to kill it. I also didn't know that pressing the R3 stick in offers an XRAY type mode that lets you view the enemy health bar and appendages glow red so you can attack them and break them off. It's a giant spider looking thing that transforms into a spinning top and hurls itself at everyone like a tornado.

This is just random video of gameplay, not the spider fight.

Like Dragon's Dogma? Makes me interested. Maybe I'll rent it.

Nicole did mention playing and liking it in a recent blog. Actually, she said she was going to buy it over Mass Effect, I think, because of the criticism ME was getting.

Im really enjoying mass effect, honestly. About seven hours in. A couple glitches, but oh well.

it's not called the Mako this time. It's called the Nomad (I think.) it controls pretty good. No gun (yet) and it doesn't jump as high.

I never heard of Toukiden but when you mentioned Ys you got my attention!

It looks like and plays like a 3D Ys, not so much MH which is what its supposed to be like. With MH the combat is very slow, precise and stamina is precious. You also have to use items, traps, study your prey to be able to capture/hunt it. It's a much slower, hunting-like experience. This Toukiden game is more fast paced and hack-n-slash like Warriors games. You run with a party of NPCs characters instead of little cats or whatever. I recommend the demo on PS4. It's quite good, but I don't think it offers the depth I'd want from a game like this, but it's less "work" than a MH game.
