So, it's been awhile since I've been here. Things have been in flux for me lately. I have finally pulled up stakes in Baltimore and moved myself to Phoenix, so there hasn't been a lot of time for gaming or messing around on the intertubes. But today I took a lazy day to catch up on gaming.
It's April Fool's Day, and every year Google has a plugin that will let you play Ms. Pac-Man in Google Maps. This was the first year I actually tried it, and it works pretty well. So in a flash of spontaneous inspiration, I made a video of me playing it.
The locations I chose for the video are varied and are locations I know pretty well. The first is the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman, which is a fairly simple, straightforward map. The second is the Jonestown neighborhood in Baltimore, MD, which has that city's signature twisting, narrow streets. The third map, Times Square in New York, would be pretty straightforward except for the fact that New York's streets do not align with the points of the compass and the map is angled. The fourth map is "The Stack", a massive multiple-freeway junction in downtown Phoenix (I-10, Loop 202, and State Route 51). It's kind of fun seeing your city streets turned into a Pac-Man maze. Unfortunately, those folks who live in rural areas are generally out of luck; the game won't load if there aren't enough roads to make an adequate maze.
Anyway, enjoy the video, and peace out.
