It's coming to me on rental in a few days. I have to play Bullet Storm first. Then I'll check it out.

So I'm notorious for disliking JRPGs, but I can handle a Pokemon or Paper Mario that kind of holds your hand and has an element beyond the combat to entice (mild platforming/timing, collecting, etc.).

Should I at least give a demo a try if I can?

Well, while I hear this is the best of the bunch I can only really speak for 3 and 4 at the moment. 1 and 2 aren't really the same games.

They combine the dungeon crawling with High School and all that goes with it.

You join clubs (sports, science, drama, basket weaving, etc.), build relationships, decide when to study and when to hang with your friends, the whole 9 yards. So there's plenty of stuff to do that is not battle related on the surface.

If you can find a way to play a demo I'd say do it but then I'm Persona (and all things SMT related) obsessed.

This game has platforming, light stealth, social sim elements (you can get a job, go to arcades, etc.) And a lot more. The combat gets hard later and you do have to use your brain, but its extremely well tutorialised. Plus the plot is great and it really doesnt shy away from themes such as abuse, depression and suicide.

Honestly if ot keeps up the quality of the first 8 hours it might be my goty.

Does the story require playing 1-4?

Nope. The stories are self contained with only minor things carrying over.

I need to get a PS4 before I play this game, But I bought the Premium edition for when the Pro drops in price. The Artbook and Bag are the best parts.

That's a nice steelbook. You know what bugs me, if companies want folks to shell out extra bucks for a steelbook how about throwing in a manual. I get the DLC and other goodies are nice, but cases look empty with at least a piece of paper in that manual spot.

Luckily no extra was paid for the steelbook. It was a day one edition thing at EB
