Games Beaten

-Gravity Rush 2 (PS4)

Five years after the first game, Gravity Rush 2 still feels unique among games. Its trademark gravity-shifting gameplay is exhilarating and the quality of the missions, both main and optional, is really good and offers a lot of variety. The graphics aren't jaw dropping but fit the world well, which is further supported by a great soundtrack. It's not perfect (combat repetitive at times; running to talk to random people) but it's nitpicking to complain. This game is excellent. Loved it. I even earned the Platinum trophy.

-Dragon Quest (iOS)

On one hand Dragon Quest is almost painfully simple. One-on-one battles. Almost no extraneous armor or weapons. Very linear and kind of opaque. But rather than come off as shallow, DQ1 seems like a pure expression of the base RPG elements. The quality of this port helps too. The battle are speedy, the pixel art is pleasant to look at, and the music got in my head without being annoying. It really comes together to form a lean, breezy RPG experience.

Games Bought

We bought a few big name games this month, like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and Mirror's Edge: Catalyst (a clearance find; I liked the original game enough to give this one a try), all for the PS4. I also picked up a couple of shmups in that last flash sale: Raiden IV: OverKill and R-Type Dimensions (a collection of the first two R-Type games), both for the PS3.

On PS+ Disc Jam (PS4) looks like a cross between frisbee and racquetball. Could be a lot of fun. Still need to try it. Tearaway Unfolded (PS4) is going on the back burner till I play through the original Vita version. Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3) will finally give me a chance to try this giant bug squashing simulator Tongue Out Severed (Vita) is supposedly really good. That just leaves Lumo (PS4/Vita) and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late (PS3), another crazily-named Japanese fighting game. That's a pretty solid month!

Now Playing

-Shantae (3DS VC - GBC)

Finally picked this back up after letting it sit for a month or two.

-God Eater 2: Rage Burst (PS4)

Making slow but steady progress in the story.

-Destiny: Rise of Iron (PS4)

The Age of Triumph content update is live now. Lots of new old stuff to do now lol.

-Torment: Tides of Numenera (PS4)

Just started this last night and finished the tutorial. The world seems really interesting so far.

I'd like to get Gravity Rush 2 at some point.  Maybe when the price goes down.

Tearaway was my favorite Vita game.

You definitely should! And I've heard nothing but good things about Tearaway.

I wonder if they made any improvements to Dragon Quest on iOS.
