Man I'm so outta touch with Nintendo. Sounds like they are putting out some awesome stuff! A new Zelda set in the world of Link to the Past? A sequel to Yoshi's Island?! I might have to buy a 3DS now lol. I paid a pretty penny for my SNES cart.
Nintendo Direct highlights!

I didn't expect to have a chance to watch the Nintendo Direct broadcast but sometimes life throws you a little bonus There were some cool and unexpected announcements. (These are just some highlights. Make sure to watch the video yourself or find a detailed summary to get all the info.)
Let me hit the Zelda series first. Both Oracles games for the Game Boy Color are coming to the 3DS eShop on May 30. For people that missed these games when they first came out (like me), this is great news because the Oracle games command high prices on the secondhand market. I don't know what they'll cost (there must be a precedent on the eShop already) but it can't be more than $5 or $6 apiece, I would think. In other Zelda news, Nintendo did not announce a 3DS rerelease of Majora's Mask like everyone thought they would but instead announced an all-new adventure set in the world of A Link to the Past. This new 3DS game, which doesn't even have a subtitle yet, will be out in time for Christmas this year! Pretty cool.
Another beloved series that's getting a new entry on 3DS is Yoshi's Island. I don't remember if Iwata mentioned a date for this one but I'm hoping they will finally make the original SNES game available leading up to the release of the new one, as there is still no way to play it short of buying the SNES cart (expensive!).
Speaking of finally being available, Nintendo is finally releasing Earthbound on Virtual Console! It's just on the Wii U, I think, and they wouldn't commit to anything less vague than that it would arrive sometime this year, but at least it's coming
Bravely Default is coming to the West next year. That should make Jesse happy lol. And Pikmin 3 is coming this year (that's news, isn't it?). August 4, I think it was. New Super Mario Bros. U is getting some big Luigi-themed DLC that should give the game quite a bit more replay value. Oh, and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is gonna be awesome. Just sayin'
There was plenty more (Mario Golf, Professor Layton, etc.) but I think those were the biggest highlights. I'd suggest just watching it yourself since it's only about half an hour long and let us know in comments what excites you most!
