Lego City Undercover & Hello Mr. PSP, I've Missed You

Well hello new month. The fun and excitement with a new month begins again. I get to do fun things like look for my checkbook because bills (you would think at this point I would just keep the dang thing in one spot, but I make it difficult), filling out lists like this one

I started three new games in April, had Portal completed for me by an 11 year old, I finished Lego City after all its behind the scenes issues, and I completed one story from Guilty Gear. I stopped playing Borderlands II not because it isn't fun, but because I got caught up in the Lego City hype/frustration/enjoyment. What I forgot to include on my list is Fist of Jesus, and the Lego Batman Story Mode for Lego Dimensions. Eventually I will get back to that after I 100% Lego City, and throw in a different game between them because that will be a lot of Lego burnout.

So for May what do I have in store? I honestly do not know. I don't have any plans to play any particular game next but that could change in a bit (it might be covered later on in this entry)

Chris Plays...

NBA 2K16 – Steam

My created San Diego Gulls are going to the NBA Finals to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Gulls are 2-0 against the Cavs, and both meetings ended up being blowouts so I'm more concerned with the offseason and if I can re-sign some players. I'd like to keep the starting five together but one of the players is in a contract year, so we shall see.

Lego City Undercover – Steam

I was hoping that this past weekend I would hit the 80% completed mark, but I came up a little short. The one thing that is going to be a little bit of trouble to hit the 100% is finding all the characters within each district of the city. It would be nice if they would just pop up on your map. I finished all the Super Builds, Train Stops, and Silver Statues. Everything else that each character class can accomplish I am about one or two away from finishing. The main things for me now are cleaning up what I need to find in each individual story level (random character collection, and pieces of the badge), and finding the random characters in Lego City and I am done.

Anyways I do have a gripe with the character layout within the game. I don't know if there is an easier way but every time I want to see who I have in the collection I have to go to the Police Station and go to each group of characters. Also I don't care for the categories for the characters.

One small step for Lego Man...

I found the Lego Store and proceeded to trash the place.

Marvel Heroes 2016 – Steam

I got a text from my cousin about signing up for some closed beta of a new Marvel game on the consoles. I thought it sounded familiar but couldn't put my finger on it. After checking out the hoops you had to jump through for a code (email, follow everybody on Twitter, and YouTube) it wasn't worth it. I looked up the game and it turns out it is on PC and I had it in my library from a couple of years ago because its free to play. I tried it out for a bit, it was fun, it was like a bigger version of Ultimate Alliance meets Destiny, but once I hit the Level 10 cap I had a couple of choices: continue playing but not progress, grind the crap out of the game, pay $15 to get the character unlocked. The option I picked? Laughed at the game, and if I want to play something like it I have Ultimate Alliance I & II. I'll be fine.

Mortal Kombat X – Android

Apparently the app has been around for 2 years. To celebrate they are giving away freebies. I think today's is a piece of equipment.

Hey its Liu Kang!

So I've been thinking about the PSP for the past week. You remember the PSP, the handheld from mid 2000s to 2014 and then the Vita took over. Well I found my 3000 series and charged the bad boy up

And check out the save data from the last game I played

Well that's interesting. Anyways remember there was a pro duo card where you could stick two micro SD cards to create a “big” card usually 32 GB of storage? Well on Amazon (thanks Amazon) I found a pro duo card where it was just one because let's face it, if I was going to throw in a 128GB stick into it, that's more than enough space. A couple of clicks and for $10 with a card reader that actually reads pro duo, I will have that kind of space in my PSP tomorrow. I'm excited to use the PSP again. Next I need to find my 1000 series PSP, swap out the joystick housing, and get another pro duo adapter for that bad boy.

Alright Pixlpeeps. I am off to be interesting. Have a good week.

That's all for now, more later!

-Chris

I have a 1000 and a 2000 PSP but the 2000 has a messed up screen with lines through it so I can't use it anymore. I haven't really used either since I got my Vita but I do have a Pro Duo shell that I stuck a 32 GB card in and it worked really well.

Sucks about the screen. Just throwing it out there, but if you ever want to tinker with it, Amazon has replacement screens between $14-20 bucks.

I just got Stardew Valley from Gamefly, so I'll be trying that this weekend.

I saw a 2009 Civilization Revolution save file on XBO that had been on the cloud all this time from X360.

Stardew seems to be the game Pixlbit is playing. I don't think I'll give it a spin right now, but later on who knows.

Its fun finding those old save game files. I should take a pic of my PS2 hard drive and see the dates on those game saves.

Unfortunately I didn't get much time with Stardew Valley. I watched the intro to the game up until the first day and then returned it. I got too much into Minecraft and didn't want to play a single player game right now. Oh well. Maybe sometime down the road I'll try it again.

I lost my original, modded PSP at some park or somewhere a long time ago. Man, I had everything on that thing. This was before PSONE classics really so I had really obscure psone games on it. Those were such great days.

That sucks. I remember there was a work around where you could rip your own Playstation games and play them on the PSP. Those were some fun times.

I miss my PSP. It was my most played console even when the PS3 and 360 came out. Unfortunately, the joystick on one of my PSPs broke while my other newer one doesn't even turn on anymore. I pretty much exhausted the PSPs library though, so I have little reason to pick up another one. The PSP is pretty fond to me, as I still keep them on the table rather than storing them away somewhere.

It was a hell of a handheld, back in its day. I had games, podcasts, music, a couple of episodes of The Simpsons, and a comicbook. Shame about one of the PSP's not being able to power on. The joystick seems like an easy fix, and the parts are cheap. At some point I will swap out both sticks on the 1000, and 3000.

The PSP was a great handheld.  Some of my favorite games include Loco Roco 1 and 2, Ys Seven, Mega Man Powered Up, Gurumin, and Half-Minute Hero.

The Loco Roco games were a lot of fun. I was even into Patapon, which looking back feels like a fun indie game.

I was so into Patapon. I have all three games. I'd love to go back and play them again.
