Games Beaten

-Gradius Collection: Gradius II (PSP)

Gradius II ups the ante from its predecessor in every way. The levels are varied, difficult affairs and you have a lot more choices for how to spec your ship. The boss variety is a huge improvement, though the final boss is sure a letdown. Overall, though, its a wonderfully tense and satisfying romp through space.

Games Bought

I bought Batman: The Telltale Series (PS4) in May and that segues nicely into the PS+ games for the month, headlined by Tales from the Borderlands (PS4). Also on tap was ABZÛ (PS4), Laser Disco Defenders (PS4/Vita), Type:Rider (PS4/Vita), Blood Knights (PS3), and Port Royale 3 (PS3).

Type:Rider

Type:Rider is about fonts and punctuation o_O

Now Playing

-Steins;Gate (Vita)

Things are starting to get dark in the story. Some big stuff is going down.

-Destiny: Rise of Iron (PS4)

Still playing a lot of Destiny. The Record book, in a way, is a lot of busy work but it sure is fun to do.

-God Eater 2: Rage Burst

Finished the initial story and have moved into the Rage Burst content.

I checked out Type:Rider thinking it might be edutainment, no, it's just a platformer using fonts and punctuation as artistic elements.

Hmm, yeah, I thought it had some font history or something. Oh well, I guess it is still pretty unique in a crowded genre.

I loved Type:Rider when I reviewed it on iPad.

Does God Eater 2 have good music?  I only ask because I hear my favorite video game music composer, Go Shiina, did the music for the God Eater games.

There are some returning tracks from the original game and the new ones are similar. So yeah, pretty good stuff Smile

Yeah Go Shiina may be my favorite, but he is a bit of a one-trick pony, meaning a lot of his stuff sounds the same.

If you want to hear a really interesting track from Go Shiina, search for "The Bird Chirps, I Sing" on YouTube.  The music is from Tales of Legendia, another game he did the music for.  He also did the music for Mr. Driller.

I'm still playing TellTale Borderlands and I'll finish that before getting any other TellTale games, since the ones I have are free.

Batman would be the one I'm most interested in though. I really don't know much about Walking Dead (I own Season 2, so even if it's not related to the show, there're still gaps) or Borderlands (I own the Handsome Collection, but never really play it).

I don't have the best history with Telltale games. I played some of the Back to the Future game but since that one is more of a traditional adventure game than their newer stuff, I gotta stuck early on and never went back to it. I made it, slowly, into the second episode of The Walking Dead (season one) before I realized I just wasn't having fun. Most of the characters are jerks in one way or another and someone is always pissed at you no matter what you do. It was very stressful in a not-fun way. Perhaps I'll soldier through for the story someday but I don't need that right now. Hoping I'll like Batman or Borderlands better.

I know Cary just wishes they'd make Sam & Max again.
