It is Saturday and yes I may have skipped over the usual Quick Hits day, but I have a good reason: actually I don't, I was caught up in more hard drive spring cleaning. I think its fun to go through old files, and toss everything I no longer want into a folder that will be deleted at the end of the day. Since I did that and maybe watched an episode or two of House of Cards (by the way HOUSE OF CARDS IS BACK!) I did not do my usual Friday blog. Well it is Saturday and I am being super lazy and I am currently typing this edition of Quick Hits while still in bed
That's my view while I am still lying down with my head propped up, and the phone is playing a podcast from a couple of days ago. Let's get started with Quick Hits!
Chris Watches...
House of Cards – Netflix: I am taking it slow and I am on episode three. Twitter has been good and there hasn't been any spoilers except for some yahoo who posted a picture of a reporter I follow that had a spoiler on the screen. I get people are excited to see someone they see on TV but not everyone binge watches a season in one day.
In other TV viewing I've been avoiding the big channels and I have strictly been watching two channels: Investigative Discovery, and AWE (A Wealth of Entertainment). ID is a channel that only has programming that involve murders and how they are solved. Think of a 24/7 Dateline episode. AWE is more of a travel show that has shows like Dream Cruises (the fun show to watch) and other things that like mansion tours which I don't really care for and I switch back to ID.
Chris Listens To...
New month means new update on my quest to listen to everything in my iTunes library. At the start of May I was at 5,962 tracks with zero plays and as of June 1st, I am at 4809. I also added 517 new tracks during that month. In total I listened to 1,716 tracks which is 166 tracks over my goal of 1,550 tracks for the month. I'm still on track to listen to everything before the end of the year is still strong and currently the remaining songs also live on my iPod Touch so I don't have to be near the PC to listen.
Pickups
Games
Since I had a lot of fun with Turbo Pug, and Turbo Pug 3D I decided to job on a couple of $1 bundles from Bundle Stars to see what else is out there.
For $1.90 I got 40+ games, and only two of them I already own from previous bundles. What grabbed my attention with these two bundles was that each bundle offered a couple of games that I wanted to play right away and the other games would be considered bonus games.
Music
The local mom & pop shop last week got in new stock including a lot of new Ska albums not only on the $1.99 wall but also in the $4 bins.
Let's start with the $1.99 CDs
Reel Big Fish! I believe I started listening to them during my first year in college right after I discovered Save Ferris. Where I grew up Ska never became a thing. It was all Gangsta Rap and Alanis Morissette on the radio.
Some DJ Shadow albums. I think I discovered DJ Shadow through a mix CD my brother made and his Organ Donor was one of the tracks. I figured why not give a couple of his CDs a listen. So far not bad.
Some Roots CDs
Incubus EP is a collection of live tracks during their World Tour for their album Make Yourself. I haven't listened to a lot of Lady Sovereign so this was an album I wanted to check out plus it was one of the freebie albums.
I bought an extra $1.99 CD
I already own Sara Bareilles debut album but I bought it again because this one contains a second disc of five acoustic tracks. Little Voice is still one of my favorite albums and I can listen to it on repeat.
Now the more expensive $4 CDs
Fishbone and Reel Big Fish's Everything Sucks
Alright Pixlpeeps it is 840am. I'm debating on either getting up or staying in this spot. I would play some games but I left my controller in the living room. Have a good weekend!
That's all for now, more later!
For the song of the week, this is the song that got me hooked on Reel Big Fish, and involves Monique Powell of Save Ferris. Have a good weekend!

Man, I love Reel Big Fish. Sadly, my favorite song "Beer" no longer applies for me now that my doctor has me on an anti-reflux diet where "alcohol of any kind" is a big no-no (along with caffeine, carbonated beverages, fatty/greasy food, spicy food, citrus, tomatoes and onions, peppermint, chocolate and nicotine). Blech.
I've only seen the first episode of House of Cards and was thinking the Congressional hearing in it managed to be unbelievable even in the midst of everything going on in real life right now.

That sounds more like a death sentence than a diet but then you can't spell diet without die now can you?

Eh. I've dieted similarly before and wind up feeling better overall, but I'm likely going to cheat a couple times for my sanity.

Wow that is some serious diet for reflux. I get most of the items but peppermint and chocolate seem kind of odd.
I'm 10 episodes in and I'm digging this season. I hope the writers are getting ideas from what is going on now, and throwing it in for next season.

I'm honestly surprised they were so close to reality on some things, since production would have wrapped before they knew about it.
Crazy.

I'm feeling a little lazy today too. Trying to write, but nothing's happening.

Haha thanks! There is so much good stuff out there, and with CDs being cheap, it never hurts to spend a couple of bucks on something you. Who knows you might like it.

Incubus. I kind of like that band. It's a cautious "like". I want to hear some more first.

I wasn't a big fan of theirs but I really dug their album Make Yourself. That was one of my go to albums. Now I'm just picking up Incubus albums and checking out the rest of their work.
