I've been playing the PS+ copy of Life is Strange, and after finishing the first two episodes I might find some way to pay the makers of this game despite possibly not being able to purchase a digital copy now PS+ copy has been downloaded ... Which I do not understand at all. Why deny people money? It's not like Rocket League where there's paid DLC still, unless I'm mistaken.
Anyway, I think the game is trying to get me to go full hipster, since I'm loving the serene scenery of its Oregon setting (or is it Washington ... The main character moved from Seatlle), the relaxing indie music, interesting characters ( thinking this may be an "everyone is the opposite of what they seem" narrative though ... But I'm still making choices based on what my character would currently assume), time travel/butterfly effect mechanic, and winding global warming plot.
It's Until Dawn for hipsters!
Speaking of which, I forgot to mention this awesome trailer no one is talking about:
As someone who keeps telling friends Until Dawn would be a great party game, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. Too bad I might not get enough people to play this
Still, it's cool to see.
Otherwise, I showed my mom Rocksmith (I still get annoyed by not being able to keep track of on-screen notes well enough to match my actual guitar knowhow in real life; luckily, I have my new amp for when I want to play more complex songs on my own instead of failing basic ones cause I forget the string colour coding scheme) and Life is Strange and she may be coming around on video games. There's hope yet.
Anywhoo, I have to catch a van to work at 4:45, since they rushed me through the hiring process again. I should probably go to bed.
Hope y'all are enjoying the summer!

You started a new job?
I remember playing the first episode of Life Is Strange when it first released and forgot about the other episodes. I liked the music and setting. It reminded me of the 90s, but I'm not sure if it was set back then or if the main character was a hipster with nostalgia for that era? Long time since I played it, but I listened to the soundtrack repeatedly after playing it. I really should get to it before sequel hits. I'm bad at keeping up with episodic games.

More like restarted an old one. I work inventory in summer when I'm not teaching.
It's set in the 2010s, but the main character has a Polaroid camera and there is definitely a hipster vibe reminiscent of 90s aesthetic.
Wait, it's getting a sequel? I'll probably buy that day one, once I finish the last three chapters.

Oooook. That explains what's in it for the developer to make it free now.

I downloaded it too. I played the first episode on PC though. I like it. It is kind of hipster, but who cares. It's a nice place to escape to and makes me feel like I'm in High school again.
I bought Xcom2 during the PSN sale.

I've been staying away from sales, but agree on LiS.

If you want to pay for the game you'll need to buy it on Steam. There is absolutely no way to buy a game that you got from PSN+. From what I hear you can't even buy the game by cancelling your subscription.

That's why I wonder what's in it for developers who don't have more DLC coming for a game.
Apparently, LiS is getting a sequel, so maybe that's it.

Hidden Agenda works by players making choices on their phones while watching the game? I kind of want a movie like that. Seems fun.

I mean, that's kind of what it is: a playable movie. And Until Dawn had great photorealistic graphics, so I'm sure this will too.

One of my friends has told me to play Life is Strange but I just never got sold on it. I might though on down the line. Im okay with story chapter games but they are getting a bit tiring now since its becoming the next popular thing to do. Thats probably just me though.

It's not like a Telltale game entirely. You can rewind time for choices and see what consequences are and you are not timed on your decisions. And there's a lot more free roam between conversations with things to do like inspect clues and posters/take pictures around town.
I find it way more relaxing than TellTale titles and more fun, personally.

Those pesky hipster games and hidden messages. Get off my lawn! I never played Life is Strange, and I really should considering how often it goes on sale at least for the PC side. As much as I don't like people forcing their views on Facebook, I'm ok with it on games just as long as it isn't heavy handed...like some folks on Facebook.
Your problem with PS+ is my major issue with the service. I don't want to continue with the service, but I want the games I have from it, but I can't purchase them. It is an insane stance for Sony to have. I'm willing to purchase those games but I don't have an option.
Rocksmith was an interesting game. Does it actually teach you the notes or is it like tab?
Also hot damn 4:45 is crazy early.

You mean the global warming message? It's more of a backdrop, really, but you can tell the creators believe in it. It's not heavy-handed though; in the game's narrative, it's just another "wtf?" thing that happens when she gets her powers.
Yeah, why wouldn't Sony let me pay for stuff I've enjoyed on PS+ from their store, rather than me buying physical copies elsewhere? I guess it's to keep people like you on PS+, but I'd honestly just keep PS+ and buy the games anyway, so ...
It's tablature, and works basically like Guitar Hero, but maybe there's an option to switch to notes? I bought it so I could make sure I was able to play songs in time, but the ones I already know how to play in real life that have different tabs than what I'm used to can be frustrating. And the game's detection is really good/sensitive, but it isn't perfect, and some of my failures are a result of not reading the screen correctly, rather than anything to do with my guitar prowess.
Yeah, but we tend to get out around 2 or 2:30 p.m. if it's a Home Depot. We're only actually working 5:30 a.m. to that time; we have to travel to the site via a van that meets about an hour or 45 minutes earlier. So the van driver has to work all that time, but passengers can do whatever for that 45 minutes to an hour.
I did a voluntary Eyemart warehouse inventory, and we were there from 7 a.m. (left 5:55 a.m. due to Dallas traffic) and din't get out until 6 p.m. or later though. I thought it was gonna be like 4 hours, but nope. I'm not complaining about the hours though, especially since we start at $12/hour now. We even have this week off, since stores are doing their 4th of July sales. We're doing some JC Pennys in Missori and Oklahoma next week and a coworker is going to show me some Game of Thrones and record my reactions.
My only issue when we're not doing Home Depots (our district's bread and butter) is the managers for these "support stores" want to question every thing I do like I'm some sort of rebellious teen. Sometimes, I want to whip out my faculty card and say, "you treat me with respect, dammit!" but I know that would only make things so much worse. lol

So how was Game of Thrones?
I always thought the people that worked at the big box stores would do inventory. Every so often on my Facebook people that i know who work at some of those stores would have the "Inventory Night, bleh" or something similar on their status.

I actually haven't watched it, as he isn't on this trip.
And they do setup for inventory, have to help us with SKU checks, and probably a decent amount of shelf maintenance once we leave, so it isn't fun for them. They're told six months in advance we're coming and have to precount and tags certain things for us as well. It's actually a bigger deal for them, since they're not doing it more or less every day like we are, but only once a year.
