April Rain

From: Sonic the Hedgehog

Remixed by: The Cynic Project

So this is a couple days late but better late than never, I guess. Let's get to it! Today's remix is an upbeat electronica take on everyone's favorite track from Sonic the Hedgehog, Green Hill Zone. "The Cynic Project" seems like an odd moniker for the remixer since this song is so positive. You'll find a lot of synth textures, both leads and percussion, but they're balanced out by acoustic piano. There is always plenty going on but it never sounds cluttered. You'll even here Sonic's signature spin dash several times, a fitting use on in-game FX. If anything, this remix has some pop influences, and that's not a bad thing. It's a very pleasant remix, kind of like a spring rain, I suppose, making the title all the more fitting.

Great song. You should also check out The Cynic Project's other sonic song, "Sonicquarium." It's a beautiful remix of the Green Hill Zone.

I have that one too Smile He did a good job remixing the same song in two different styles.

Nice song Philip. I've been playing Sonic 2 a lot lately since I hooked my Genesis up again. This version makes me want to dance. It's too bad I suck at dancing lol. I didn't know that the OCR dudes did the soundtrack for Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. Some of those songs are fantastic! How many times has that game been remade anyway? Like a gagillion? lol Undecided

Hey, the only way to get better at something is to practice...or maybe have a good stiff drink or two first. Then you'd at least think you could dance lol

Yeah, the Street Fighter 2 HD Remix soundtrack was OCR's big moment of industry recognition. Talk about a passioin project. It was a really cool thing on Capcom's part to have them do it. I just wish Capcom had that sort of mindset all the time instead of continually screwing their fans over like they've been doing recently (I guess I'm mostly thinking of Mega Man).
