So much for my pledge to be more active with my posting here. I haven't posted since my last BaD post and even those weren't as frequent as I wanted them to be. Hopefully and currently, I will make more of an effort to be more active here.
Gaming is still slow and regulated to the weekends, especially as summer work at the school campus comes to a close and the school year will soon start. But here's some notable purchases I've made since the spring:
- A Nintendo 3DS XL (Blue). Finally bought one of these. It is not the "new" version but until I get the urge to play certain games, I most likely won't upgrade. Games that I've bought for it so far: Super Mario 3D Land, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Rune Factory 4. I've also bought Dr. Mario, Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, and the original LOZ from the E-store or whatever it's called. It's a great handheld system.
- for the PS Vita, I finally bought the PSP version of Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker. While I haven't progressed too far into the campaign as of yet, it looks and controls better than I imagined. I also bought the PS3 version on a PSN sale a while back but I wanted both versions. Other recent purchases: Crypt of the Necro Dancer (hard as hell) and Breathe of Fire IV.
- on the PS4, I'm making an effort to focus more on single-player games and less on MP. I bought Skyrim Remastered, MGS V: Definitive Edition and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age so I hope to conquer those bad boys in the coming year or two. I've missed FFXII and I think this updated version is great. Bringing back a lot of memories.
- and surprisingly, the PS3 has received some attention: i've bought some used games that while I own them digitially, I prefer the physical copies so they don't take up space on the hard drive: Vanquish, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
Movies that I've seen recently and enjoyed: Baby Driver (top pick of the summer), Dunkirk (close second), War of the Planet of the Apes (excellent end to the trilogy), Spider-man Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Valerian & The City of a Thousand Planets (better than you'd think), T2 Trainspotting (not as good as original but an excellent sequel on its own merits), Wonder Woman (LOVED IT), Alien Covenant (also loved this; third best Alien film behind Alien and Aliens), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (flawed but fun and energetic), Kong Skull Island (a splendid time), Logan (favorite film of the year, so far), and Lego Batman Movie (funny, charming but not Lego Movie-brilliant).
As I said before, I hope to post more often now that I'm out of the funk of the gruelling summer work (I had a record-setting 71-hour work week last month!). I've missed this place and interacting with you guys.
Until next time, check ya later!
