I managed to get my hands on 1600 points and purchased the DLC Skyrim DAWNGUARD for xbox 360.
I wondered how it would intergrate within my exisiting game.
Currently, I am a level 54 Bosomer Elf ( I think, it is has been so long I can’t remember).
- 100% Conjuration
- 100% Archery
- 100% Lockpicking
- Hi 50’s and above on a majority of the other skills.
I basically am a Thief who loves the Bow. I can create Thralls, not to be confused with the temporary constructs of Fire, Ice, and Storm. My Lackeys are permenant, and I leveled up Restoration high enough to gain the Necromancy perk which lets me ‘Thrall’ up humanoid beings up to, but just short of, Master Class.
I WAS as a member of the Circle but I cleared that up with a little bit of “Witches-Head-in-the-mystical-fire” Ointment and I am cured.
But I still have Hircine’s Ring (hehe)
I have over 210 hrs ( I know, it is lacking, but please forgive) logged.
So enough backstory –
I started the adventure by actually finishing up the Circle quest. I have a serious Gamer OCD routine set up in my Skyrim play.
- Load game
- Get my bearings ( Where in the hell am I ?!?)
- Make sure my Companion and Thralls are there with me.
That last one is the biggest and most important. But I have noticed now, after the 27mb XBL update and the new content loaded, I think the issue has actually gotten worse.
Before I continue…. NOTABLE changes..
- Vampire and Werewolf Eyes now Glow erie, and are AWESOME
- Vampire Facial features are more pronounced. I could not believe the level of detail in the way they looked. Very Nice.
- Introduction of Gargoyles – Damn things started popping up all over the place. I have some theories about them and why they are placed, but I will wait till I am deeper in the game.
- Vampire Lord skill Tree - Ok, I have always been a Werewolf and only wolfed’ out like 7 times total. It was cool, but nothing to write home about for me. I liked the 100% disease immunity, and Immunity to Vampirism. This time around I took the road less travelled and went to the otherside. (After you see the ‘offering scene’ You will know why I jumped at the chance.) It was a nice way to entice me into the world of the living dead.
I will admit that I am just opening the door on this DLC, I have completed the first 2 quest, accepted my new ‘skill set’ and I am trying to manage newly found Vampire powers.
There are many of you who know this world already and you should have a ball with the new skill set. I am just getting used to it, but I am liking the ride thus far.
MY ONLY ISSUE.. is probably with the main game and I hope that the inclusion of the DLC has not assisted in making this problem worse.
But my THRALL’s keep disappearing!!!!
In my earlier Skyrim blogs I gave a warning about entering the Dark Brotherhood hide out (The first location) which would introduce this BUG because the minute you enter it would prohibit your lackeys from entering. After you leave, they would be completely GONE! That meant a trip to all the corners of the world to get them back again, because they default back home, or to the place that you ensnared them. That sucks, royally.
I have already lost one major companion who was my pack mule..(*Sniff*) She had at least 30K worth of weapons and armor and she just disappeared after I did the Wedding Assination quest. I tried everything I could to get her back (Waiting 3 whole days, Sleeping 3 whole days,) and she would not come back. I chose a new girl ( the nord babe from Riften) and she is a keeper. Though, she is like the 3rd ex-wife I never asked for. She never shets up (DAMMIT!). But I will tolerate it. My Thralls, the Vapmire Dynamic Duo named Tap-p and Dat’-as, consist of 1 Volkihar Vampire (level 25- 30) and either a Vampire Master/Champion, or a Blooded Vampire.
Vampire Thralls, in my honest opinion, are some of the best. I have used human necromancers, and other magic using thralls but they suck. The only thing I dislike is when my kids fight amoungst themselves. It happens quite a bit.
I load my main Compainion with staffs and she goes berserk. Any helper in the path of her destruction will then turn their affections towards her, and I have to kill then and perform a ‘Jesus of Nazareth’, and all is well.
I will take the weekend to get more involved with the Dawnguard DLC. I am interested in what is to come. I have 1 elder scroll, and I need to add another to my list. Wish me luck!
I will keep you posted.
