Yall didnt think I beat a game for August? Well I did.....very by chance really. August has actually been a really crazy month but Ill talk about that on an update blog.

Awhile back Capcom released the first Ace Attorney trilogy for 3DS. I had always wanted to play them but never actually picked up one of the games. I hate that I missed this series to be honest. I really enjoyed the first game. In the first game there are 4 main cases and 1 extra case. The extra case Ill get into at the end.

Each case starts out showing the murder that will be the focus of it. Once Phoenix becomes involved normally not even being wanted because he is a rookie you start with investigating by questioning clients/witness's, exmaining crime scenes, and finding evidence. This is all done through a simple interface. Examine is looking over the area your in, click on everything that it lets you. Move lets you choose the place you want to go to next. Talk is used for clients/witness's/police when someone is present in a area your in you can talk to them to learn about current details of the crime/information helpful to the defense. Present is used to show evidence/clues to dig up more information. Court Record shows all evidence and profiles of everyone involved in the current case.

Once the investigation part is finished for that day it moves on to the trial phase. During the Trial your biggest job is to find contradictions in testimonys by pressing witness's for more information and presenting evidence. If a verdict is not reached by the end of the trial that day another investigation phase will begin. To me the trial phase is the best part.

The best thing about this game? The characters. Hands down, the characters make this game what it is which since it is a visual novel thats the important thing. I love all of them practically. Okay, Manfred Von Karma gives me chills and nightmares but beside him, I love all of them. During the 4th main trial he is the prosecutor and the first time he said objection I shut my 3DS. I was like, nope. I rather not do the trial anymore, Sorry Phoenix Im letting you down. The guy is fucking scary. Im shocked I got through it. My favorite character has to be between Maya and Miles. Maya provides comedy relief and Miles while at first seems mean and stuck up turns out to be this scared tormented person with their past.

I love the humor this game has.

The extra case, overall I dont like it. Reason being, I feel like it is exremely out of place with the new mechanics they added to it, being able to examine evidence closer and using items like luminol spray. I mean the mechanics are cool but they dont come into play in the 2nd or 3rd game because this case was made after they were already released. I also didnt like that after the 4th main case which heavily involves Miles they yet again throw him to the wolves. It just seems like the 4th case with some new mechanics and slight changes.

Overall I enjoyed the game. Its not too difficult but not too easy. Kinda just right in challenge. A few times I got stumped on what I was missing. If you enjoy mystery type stuff or like visual novels then I recommend Ace Attorney. Its gets a grade A from me!

Def! Im quite excited to keep going with the series. The Apollo trilogy is getting a 3DS release next. Im hoping they might put the 2 miles edgeworth games on 3DS as well.

I'll pick up one of them if I see one used for cheap, but I heard the other day that the games are getting a little pricey and scarce. Seems like the perfect portable game.

They do have the first trilogy on the 3DS EShop. It was only digital. If you prefer physical then some searching will be required. I do typically see them at GameStop but thats where I live.

I'm hip to the digital now. I'll get them there when I have some money.

Phoenix Wright is my favorite game series on the DS.  I've played all of them that have been released in the US.  Miles Edgeworth even got his own spinoff series, and one of them even made it to the US.  My favorite characters are The Blue Badger and Gumshoe.

I respect these Phoenix Wright games, but they're not exactly my cup of tea. I wonder if they'll do one for the Switch now that the 3DS is kind of old.
