Did you honestly think I was down and out?

Did you think I haven’t kept up with the score?

Did you think that despite being gone from the blogosphere for almost a year would allow me to remain silent to this point?

You thought wrong. You thought very wrong….

That’s right I’m back again to help share the Octoberween spirit for the year of 2017. As I’m sure some of you may be aware I fizzled out during last year’s Octoberween blogging madness. It was a first time after doing these Octoberween blogs for well over a decade. It was a good run I must admit. Only starting off as a one-time Top 11 List of Halloween Gaming back on 1up.com, it came to its climax back in 2015 with an amazing 31 days of blogging on IGN and Pixlbit!

Tried as I might to replicate that winning formula in the year 2016 I just didn’t have it in me. A lot was going on during that time, from work issues to the aftermath of moving into a new house, to my blog page on IGN refusing to post any blogs I wrote on there. It also didn’t help that it seemed blogging was going the way of the dodo given how microblogging and online videos were becoming the new hotness when it came to sharing one’s hobby/passion. As much as I loved to blog, it felt like very few were reading them as the years passed. Plus it doesn’t help that any of the sites I blog on have a page counter…

But as you can see things are changing once again. Micro videos didn’t last as long as one thought and with YouTube having issues with what can be posted on their site, you could say blogging might see a second coming. Plus I’ve felt the urge to blog again thanks in part to getting a used acer aspire one netbook, making writing and posting content online a bit easier to handle than with my Asus Transformer 2-in-1. But with that said there will be some new changes when it comes to my Octoberween blogs now and into the future: gone are the days of 31 blogs a day and Top 11 Octoberween Game Titles of the year. As “Teh Wife” pointed out to me last year when I tried to do this I actually spent more time trying to write these blogs than actually enjoy Halloween outright. Sure I was able to watch and play the various games and movies I wrote about but aside from actually going outside and ENJOYING the holiday it became more of a chore than anything else. I tasted, I toyed with yet didn’t really get to indulge in Halloween like I used to.

Plus she did say I wasn’t exactly getting PAID to write all this content.

So instead of getting 31 days of various blogs about a variety of topics on Octoberween, I’ll instead be blogging off and on about the aspects of the season that I’ll be doing, playing, watching, reading or thinking at the time. They’ll still obviously consist of games, movies, books, music and possibly TV and anime shows but it won’t be to the degree where it takes up my entire time. Also I’m officially announcing the end of my Top 11 Octoberween Game Titles list. Try as I might I just can’t keep up with playing AND writing about 11 games during the month. Life has taken more of my time and thus limits me in what I can do overall. Instead I’ll be replacing it with a more respectable (and doable) Top 5 Octoberween Game Titles instead. Top 5 lists seem to be more commonplace on YouTube it seems and since I got the idea of a Top 11 from a certain internet personality, it only seemed fitting that I change with the times. I will still plan to blog about certain 1 off seasonal topics if it fits my fancy, or fits the mood of the season, but for the most part the Top 11 lists my RIP.

What won’t die will be the weekend Video Weekend postings that I incorporated the past few years. Originally they were meant as cop-out posts given I’d try to take the weekend off to enjoy other Octoberween activities but I’ve found them to be most enjoyable to share what I’ve found online and show you others who have a similar zeal when it comes to the holiday. So let me introduce you to the new Octoberween 2017 blog series by yours truly. I hope you take the time to read them if you can. If not at least they’ll be here for posterity

Why don’t we start off the first day of Octoberween 2017 with some good old fashion ghost stories, or more specifically stories about the shadow people from YouTuber: The Paranormal Scholar. I’ve been following her channel for quite some time and despite some of her videos having commercials popping up in the most unexpected times, they are still interesting to watch. If you don’t know who the “Shadow People” are then prepare to sit back and enjoy as you’re told some stories about their various encounters with us mere mortals. You’ll think twice when you see something from the corner of your vision.

Nice, and welcome back. I almost forgot to get in the mood of Halloween this month. Thanks for reminding me. I should think of something cool to blog about too.

I'm glad you think blogging may be making a comeback. I keep thinking I'm on some island everyone's forgotten about. Video is difficult to pull off, and I'm more comfortable with writing. Twitter is too brief. I can't even stick to 250 words in my blogs.

One of my guilty pleasures is watching those ghost shows on TV.

I haven't dressed up for Halloween in a LONG time.
