The Return Of The 360

At some point today I need to print out an Amazon return sheet, pack up the package I received last week and then find a UPS store. Also at some point within that trip I need to get some gas for the truck. Before I actually get started with all that good stuff let's catch up on what has been going on. I almost forgot: Good morning Pixlpeeps! I hope everything is good and the weekend treated you well.

Chris Reconnects The 360

So I did some organizing and I did something I haven't done in at least a half year, I hooked up the 360. I swapped out the funky HDMI cable that for some reason would cut out at random times, with a cheap one I had all curled up. I powered it up and everything was golden, except I needed to add a new password. I went through the process of trying to remember my Microsoft password, and then when I couldn't I created a new one, and everything was supposed to be good. Well it wasn't and it after reading the screen a couple of times I realized that since I have the two step verification on, I would have to use a special created password for me to log in and see my friend's list. Once again I remember the days when this wasn't important, and really it's not today, but it was bugging me.

After an hour or so of on and off tinkering everything was up and running and I guess I still have $1.83 in my online wallet. Mr. Moneybags here! At this point I thought it was time for me to jump back into the 360 backlog and play some games.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts – XBox 360

I never played this series before and I thought it would be fun to jump in a give it a shot. I thought it looks similar to Ratchet and Clank and I liked the PS4 game, why not play this game. I must have a low tolerance for this game because I thought it lagged with what sounded like a terrible plot, and the game feels slow. After what felt like an hour (it was probably close to 30 minutes) I finally get into the first world and by then I was over the game. I had to drive this wagon, collecting items and fending off these ball things that kept pushing me. I'm not a fan, and I probably won't play this game again.

Gears Of War – XBox 360

Unlike Banjo, this game gave me an option to skip the long winded dialogue and tutorial and threw me into the deep end. I've always wanted to play through this series and I started when I first got my 360 but never completed it so I started a new save and off I went blasting random bad guys. I still think the character models are stocky but at least the game is fun and is constantly moving. The one thing I do have some gripe with is the aiming but other than that I'm enjoying the ride.

In other game news I'm still playing the usual NCAA Football and I just finished my 5th season with ASU and got another contract extension. I really need to get back to a balanced offense because halfway through the previous season my superman QB got injured and the backup was a QB who had a more accurate arm so I was throwing up deep passes that were being completed by my speedy receiving corps and I was literally putting up video game numbers.

Still in the mobile games on my phone and after this entry is posted and I'm eating breakfast I'm going to update my games.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off, have a good week!

That's all for now, more later!

-Chris

Shoot I forgot I need to buy candy as well. Throw that on the list

Nuts and Bolts is nothing like the first two games. It's about building and racing your contraptions. The first two were 3D platformers.

Looks like I need to hunt down the first two games. You would think I would enjoy a game where I had to build a race car.

They are both available digitally in the 360 store. They look kind of dated now because they were originally N64 games but they are still fun.

I really liked Nuts & Bolts.  Would I have rather had a more traditional Banjo-Kazooie game?  Well, yeah.  But what we got was pretty cool.  The building mechianic was brilliant and you could do so much with it.  I think that was my most played game on the 360.

I think with my problem is that I was expecting something completely different than what I got and that is what turned me off of the game. After reading what you good people wrote I'm going to give it another try this weekend and hopefully my point of view changes and something catches where I am sucked into the game.

I had my 360 connected here during the holidays for my brother to play skyrim when he visits, but now that the Remastered editions are out, I don't have to do that.  So long 360!

Haha nice.

I'm probably not going to get an X1 for a bit so the 360 is staying connected for a bit.

I hated Nuts and Bolts' intro too, but if you give it time I think there's a good chance you like it since you seem to like Legos. It's basically trying out a bunch of crazy contraptions you make and encourages you to think outside the box when building them.

You good people here in the comments section have swayed me to give it another shot. It combines racing with some platforming, two genres I like into one game. That intro was rough but I will give it another shot this weekend.

I played a demo of Nuts & Bolts and didn't get into it. Maybe like Casey says, I need to give it a little more time.

I thought one of the good thing about Gears was the aimming. It's a little weird coming from FPS games though. That over-the-shoulder view is a little strange at first. But man, you can pop into first person very quickly to get an accurate shot. And i love the reload mechanic. It's something else to do between shots. Great!

I have my 360 setup at home but I never get a change to fire it up. I'm always gaming at my friend Mark's place. I'm not trading it though. I still got some games that will probably never get added to backward compatiblity on XBO.

I have to get used to the aiming. I keep clicking the right stick to get the aiming view and all my shots are to the right. It's funky but I can fix that with some practice.

There are some really good games on the 360. I think the 360 and PS3 era might be my favorite when it comes to modern gaming because there are a ton of good stuff to play. I would include the Wii but too many games make me use the funky controls which is a pain.

That gen is far in my rear view mirror now. I am really attached to my XBO and I wish I had more to play on PS4, because I like that system too.
