Game I love that everyone hates: Might be a stretch, but Super Mario Sunshine or Skyward Sword
Game I hate that everyone loves: The Last of Us

Name a game you love everyone hates and a game you hate everyone loves.
I've definitely heard people hate on both your loved games; I'd say Sunshine is my favorite 3D Mario. Never played Skyward Sword, but if the critique of it was "it was too linear," that bothers me not one bit.
I don't hate The Last of Us, but I thought a large chunk of it was pretty dull. I just don't care that much for zombie apocalypse stories. Honesly, I thought the super-violent trailer for TLoU2 was great because it featured only humans and I find that element way more interesting.
I think a lot of the Skyward Sword critique was around the motion controls, which I get. I just didn't happen to have the troubles other did, with the exception of the swimming and flying, which controlled quite poorly. Otherwise, I loved the game.
I'm with you on Zombie Apocolypse stories. I think they suck and I thought most of TLOU was boring. The gameplay was mediocre and the story was so plainly obvious I just wanted it to end. Needless to say, I won't be investigating the sequel and I still haven't played the DLC from the first game.
Does SMB2 get hate though? I guess I've never heard much of it. It gets called "weird," but I couldn't say I've heard too many people not like it. But I have my little Internet cave, so who knows.
Uncharted gets what I think is a surprising amount of hate online. I love the series. I can understand why people don't like it to an extent, but I think some of the criticism that it "plays itself" is a bit much. If you mean the story, I can dig it, but I'm able to overlook a lot of that in the name of "well, he's mostly shooting mercenaries who aren't exactly highly moral themselves ..."
I remember Primal Fury being an arcade fighter about dinosaurs I loved as a kid. I am guessing Primal is different. Either way, I couldn't tell you what I think.
I don't necessarily hate FPS as a concept, but I suck enough at them I lose interest pretty quickly. I want to buy Wolfenstein II for the Nazi killin', but I can't honestly say I enjoyed the first one past the first stages. I loved the insanity early on, but then the story got more serious and the enemies got more smarter. They 'atcheted me up, 'ey did! BLIMEY
Primal is an action adventure/platformer. It's the story of a girl (Jen) looking for her rocker boyfriend who has been captured by a demon and taken to Oblivion. She teams up with a gargoyle named Snee er, Scree and the game invoives you using them both to solve puzzles.
The combat isn't great but the story and the dark worlds they travel through are. There are some hilarious moments in the game too.
It was one of the first PS2 games I bought and I also have it digitally on PS3 and PS4.
Is it that everyone hates it or that no one has heard of Rodea the Sky Soldier? Because ...
Anyway, CoD has always bored the shit out of me, so you're not alone there. I think the series gets plenty of flack though, it just sold like gangbusters for a while last gen. Maybe this gen too. Yeah, probably this gen too. Oh well.
First game that comes to mind for Love/Hate is Urban Chaos: Riot Response. It was the last game Rocksteady did before the Batman games. It got very average reviews but I loved it. I 100% the game on two systems.
Hate/Love. I hated Braid. Mainly because I hate platformers. I know that's heresy, but I'm just terrible at them and dislike repeating levels for a better score. Any game that makes me repeat a level more than a couple times gets my hate. I like the freedom to explore, to do new things. Keep me in one place too long and I fume.
Was Urban Chaos similar to the Dead Rising games? Like just an arcadey slug fest?
As for Braid, I never played it but I can match your hatred of platforming with mine for ... come to think of it, I think the only games I tolerate involve at least some level of platforming. Well, damn.
But if you HAD to play the same levels over before they let you move on, I can see that getting irritating for sure.
No. Urban Chaos was a FPS. You were a cop and firefighter trying to save people from gangs trying to create anarchy in a city. It was just a very good FPS with neat firefighter gear.
I keep trying those platformers. Some have graphics I can't resist like Rayman Origins/Legends. I've always liked DK Country but mostly because you can keep going and see new areas for the most part. Other platformers won't let you go anywhere without perfectly beating the level you are on. I hate that. I've been working on my patience in games. I feel like it's a good skill to have, so I try and persist a little longer every time I go back to a platformer.
For me, it's also that a lot of those MP shooters get so much coverage from game sites, seem to ignore anything else, like Destiny coverage for example or CoD loot crate stories-- ad nauseam.
Honestly, if it weren't for twitter and podcasts I wouldn't have cared for Prey, Dishonored 2, Wolfenstein , Persona 5, Evil Within 2, and I wouldn't have known that Nintendo is on fire again with their new console.
