Well hello Pixlpeeps! We are close to the end of 2017 and the start of 2018 and what better way to ring in the new year than to talk about all the cool things I want to accomplish in 2018. For 2017 I’d like to think I did well. I listened to every song in my iTunes library (I’ve since added a ton), I’ve hit my Goodreads goal, and I like to think I cut down on game spending but what do I have in store for 2018? Let’s find out.

Game Goals

Play More: this is most likely a goal for everyone here but in 2018 I would like to play more games on the consoles and on the PC. I already get enough play time on mobile devices because they’re on the phone, and they are quick hits, but I would like to play more games with substance in 2018. There are still some games I’d like to tackle and maybe some that are hidden gems that I have yet to find.

Cut Down On Spending: I think I did a good job of this last year in buying games in bundles, being picky about new releases, and waiting for sales, but there can be improvements like buying impulse bundles because they are cheap, and finding just cheap games in general. If I want to play more games I need to be more picky on what I buy…although I really do like Super Pug which is just a runner on Steam but the pug wears a freaking sombrero!

Maybe Thin Out The Library: I started doing this last year by giving away PS4 games to my cousins and I might do more with my 360 games. I don’t really need a bunch of copies of sports games and I would like to keep the big name games/stuff I really want to own. We’ll see.

Non Game Goals

More Gym Time: I miss going to the gym and spending time just zoning out while working on the body. Where else can you get a good sweat going, burn some calories, and listen to random music/podcasts/audiobooks? Plus you feel good afterwards especially if you jump into the pool after a workout.

Read More: Same goal as before but instead of hitting a set number of books, I want to read everyday. It doesn’t matter if I sit and read for 15 minutes or an hour, I would like to take time out and just read. It can be comics, audiobooks, or just your run of the mill story, I’d like to get back to reading and learning something new, or enjoying a new story.

Listen To Music: I already do this a lot but I would like to discover new music, check out genres I normally wouldn’t listen to and overall just enjoy music. I have a ton of music on mu iTunes library and get more use out of my Amazon Prime Music service. Hell its part of the package I pay for, I might as well get more use out of it.

Be More Active Here: This past month or so I’ve been lagging in replying to people. Sorry folks, that’s me being a bad member of this community. I need to be more active here because you good people read my ramblings, the least I could is read your thoughts and throw in my two cents.

Save Money: I really want to get in on the 52 week challenge or at least something like it. If you watch YouTube or follow the folks who are into sneakers, there is a guy called Mayor who has this thing he does called Water Bottle Talk. What he does is basically gets one of those Sparklets jugs and keeps it to the side. Everyday he empties out his pockets and places whatever cash he finds into the jug. Either before or after Christmas he opens the jug up, and pulls out crazy amounts of cash. Now he spends a lot so he has a lot of change, but he always says whatever you can put in the jug, put it away and save. I’ve been kind of doing this with random singles but I want to do more so I will try and do the 52 Week Challenge but I will just add the weeks up for the month and place that amount in my container. Anything extra like singles I will toss in as well.

Well Pixlpeeps there it is, my Goals for 2018. Do you folks have any goals? Anyways if we don’t talk before hand, have a safe New Year’s and let’s improve in 2018!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Play more? Not an issue for me, but I could stand to play more of what I have and buy less. I say that, but I'm probably going to buy both Gravity Rush titles because they're on sale.

So I can relate to Cut Down on Spending. I can usually budget ok, but eating out and video games continue to be a sinkhole for me.

I might return some of my Uncharted Blu Rays as well.

I'm with you on gym time as well. I have been neglecting my health in general too much, really.

Honestly, my goals pretty much align with yours, so good luck and have a happy new year!

I like the first Gravity Rush game. Speaking of, I really do need to finish that game. Hell I need to find and charge my Vita.

Yeah the eating out part gets me. I write that as I finish a Jack in the Box breakfast I picked up. Hopefully I stick with this 52 Week challenge and maybe add some cash from a skipped fast food meal or two in the total.

Good Luck to you as well and hopefully by the end of 2018 we both a little more cash in our pocked and visited the gym a lot more than in 2017!

Play more will not be one of my goals. I play plenty already. I'm tempted to set a goal to play less, but that will probably happen naturally once I get back to full time work.

Some goals of mine: Continue my monthly look back at a particular year in media. This guides my book, music, film and game choices. Additionally for games, I think I'll use the first week of the month for retro and then focus on new games the rest of the month. I'm going to rent them to save money. My actual purchases will be limited to any downloadable-only titles and any I need to fufill my monthly retro journeys (most of those I already have).

I like your monthy year focused entries. It's interesting to see what was released during that time. I used to be huge on physical media but now I really like the downloadable games. As for music I'm still on CDs because I like physical copies of music.

I'm slowly moving away from physical copies of games, just like everybody else.

It's sad that this is happening but when developers don't even include an instruction booklet and then sell the digital copies that are cheaper, its like they are forcing you to move away from physical media.

I don't have the attachment to digtal media that I do to physical. I still listen to music, even though I don't keep a physical collection anymore, but going digital has definitely ruined my obsession with it. I fear gaming will go the same way. I wonder what I'll get hooked on next? Maybe cooking. Doesn't get more physical than that. And no fear of it being digitized. Or will it?

I wish I read more. I do read, but I have so much I want to read and just can't turn everything off and focus on it all the time. THat's definitely one of my resolutions.

I figured I'll start off small with maybe 15 minutes a day and just build on that. I started to turn the TV off before bed and get in some of my current audiobook.

Oh, good! Someone else is going to do the 52 Week Challenge! I tried last year, and ended up having to take the money back out way too early due to some unforeseen expenses. I'm also going to try to cut back on eating out. I'm a good cook, I just hate taking the time to cook a meal for one person. And once again, I'm going to try to play what I already own rather than buy new games.

Luckily, these are not resolutions. I don't make resolutions.

I'm going to do my best and stick with it this year. Last year I stopped after the first month but this year my first check of the year I took out $20 as seed money to start it off, and I threw in my singles from my change. I'm probably going to add the contents of my coin can to it so there will probably be no coin can purchase (crosses fingers) of a swanky console or some other expensive toy.

I call mine goals, but I'm using the title from last year's blog, and I did well by hitting some of those goals.
