This has always been one of my favorite game series based on anime. Maybe it's just nostalgia,as Ghost In The Shell was the very first anime film I saw. It was released by THQ back in 1997. You play as a nameless male rookie working for Section 9. You pilot a Fuchitoma tank throughout the game. I liked the cool graphics and the parts that utilized the high tech gizmos featured in the film. I own two other GITS games, one for PS2,and one for PSP. Both are the Stand Alone Complex games which feature more running about on foot and combat. Helps if you are a fan of the manga and anime. If you are you'll probably enjoy these titles a lot.

Read about a Dr. Who special which will air this Sunday on BBC America. It's called Doctor Who:The Doctors Revisited-The Fourth Doctor. It salutes Tom Baker, who played the Doctor for seven consecutive seasons for 7 years running. It will air at 8:00 PM [ET] on the 28th. The special will be followed by the classic episode"The Pyramids Of Mars". The Doctor is joined by his companion Sarah Jane Smith in this episode. Should be a very cool way to pay tribute.

Tom Baker will always be my favorite Doctor of the series. I was introduced to the show when I was in high school. My girlfriend was way cooler than I,and she turned me onto it and many other things. Shaped my taste in sci-fi,metal,movies,games,and books. She was smart as hell and had a well rounded view of pop culture and cool things in general. First time I saw Pink Floyd:The Wall was with her. But Dr. Who was the best thing she ever showed me. Tom Baker had such a quirky way of speaking and dressing. Gotta love that big scarf! He brought his character to life in a unique and unforgettable way. I have not seen much of the new Doctors, but I think I need to get started. I hear that the latest is one of the best ones yet.

What I'm listening to today......

Ohhh. My Wife will be excited to hear about the special this weekend! I know she's really excited for the David Tennant/Matt Smith episode that's coming up! Tennant was her favorite Dr

My wife really likes David Tennant and is looking forward to that, too. She never really got into the older episodes much.

I have only seen two tom baker stories, genesis of the daleks and robots of death.  They are both fantastic.  Patrick Troughton is probably my favourite classic incarnation, eventhough I love them all... even colin.

Anything with Daleks in it is cool with me. That's the main reason I want to see the newer series. The Daleks always freaked me out something fierce!

I love the original GiTS movie. Still looks amazing even though it's over 15 years old! I need to watch more of Stand Alone Complex. Whenever I can find it cheap...

I haven't heard too many good things about the games, but I'm sure being a fan would add a lot to them.

Really deserves a next gen treatment. Could be done well if given a chance.

The two Ghost in the Shell movies were pretty good, but I love the Stand Alone Complex series. It might be the only anime I've watched all the way through lol. The plots are so deep and the characters and settings are so interesting. I'd love to watch through it all again.

That Dr. Who special sounds pretty cool. Wish we got BBC America Frown My wife and I haven't watched any of the older ones yet but we're nearly caught up on the new series. David Tennant is definitely our favorite Doctor Smile

I just got done watching a review of Rock of Ages by someone who didn't like it cause it butchered the Broadway musical's story, apparently, so I thought of you and how you thought it butchered the 80s songs while watching it. Good to know "Balls to the Wall" and "I Am the Law" will never get Glee covers, right?

I just love "Balls to the Wall," and I think "Metal Thrashing Mad" is my favorite Anthrax song, but "I am the Law" is such a great song, too. Speaking of which, have you seen the new Dredd movie? It's actually really good. I'm not an authority on 80s action films or the comic books of Dredd, but I've heard a lot of people cite their fondness of those as reasons they're fond of the new movie, cause it pays tribute to them so well. I just liked the vibe, action, acting, and slo-mo; also 3D, cause I saw it in theaters.

I saw the first Ghost in the Shell on Netflix when I had it, but never the other movies, or the anime series. I think I liked the look better than the story (and some of the voice acting didn't cut it for me), but it did get me curious about the anime. I still remember that cover from so many trips to Blockbuster; it would always catch my eye, cause I was in junior high, and it had big ol' bazongas as its cover art.

Can't say I know much of Doctor Who, but a cubby in the work office for my main "job" is a Tardis, and I hear it raved about on my facebook feed all the time, plus I know roughly what Daleks are, so I guess I have some perfunctory knowledge of the series. Kind of. I should probably watch it at some point. lol

Yes,the major does dress rather skimpy for police work. Her coworkers don't seem to mind, though. I loved the Dredd movie. Much better than the Stallone version. More authentic and less silly. I grew up reading the comics,so I enjoyed that one. Violent as hell and highly stylized, too. I wish I could have seen Accept live with Udo singing[if you can call it that!] way back when. I have seen Anthrax several times and am always blown away by how good they are. Saw them once in a small club in Baltimore and they were amazing, that was when "Among The Living" was released. Glee will never touch those songs, which is truly a blessing!

Tom Baker was always my favorite. I think he got the character of the Doctor just right. He was looney, good humored, super quick witted, and fiercely moral. If a character expressed an evil notion, he would let him/her know right away and with determined passion. He presents a great role model. I'm presently watching all the William Hartnel episodes just for contrast.

Oh man, I love that Accept video. One of my favorite metal bands.
