First of all, I grew up in Delaware and became an Eagles fan, but the last time they went to the superbowl I lived in Philly and it was an amazing experience to see the city come together. In fact, I went to a Sixers game the day of the Super Bowl and the fans were chanting "E-A-G-L-E-S" during the basketball game. Kinda fucked up, but a lot of fun. Then the night of the game, the Eagles lost and it was a big let down. It was a tight game but McNabb just couldn't cut it. I'm very glad now that the Eagles got their Super Bowl, but I didn't always give in to hope that it would happen. Now that it has, I feel relief and joy. Anyway, on to games...

When I was about seventeen and about five other guys dropped some acid and hung out at my friend Gregg's house. He had a furnished basement in his parents house where he lived, and they weren't home. I had brought over my Sega CD system which I had acquired somehow, and Sonic CD with it. I hadn't really played it yet.

In our drugged out state, we were astonished by the game - "Whoa, dude you can go back and forwards through time on the levels!" Of course, in due time the complexity of the game was more than our minds could handle, so we drove around in Gregg's car shooting bottle rockets out the window.  Teenagers.

The funniest part of the night was when we were in Gregg's room with the lights off and he was dazzling us with christmas lights he had stolen and suddenly the door opened and the light flipped on. His mom was home. She must have thought we were nuts. Gregg told her some excuse about what we were doing and that was that.  Teenagers.

But I'll never forget that sudden, LSD revelation that you could go backwards and forwards in time on the Sonic CD levels. That shit was hilarious.

Even though there are parts of their fanbase I can't stand (though I can't blame people for getting annoyed with certain Cowboys fans), I'm happy for your team, man! The perception among my Facebook friends was to post a bunch of statuses about how Phili is basically going to be burned to the ground because of fan celebrations. lol But for guys like you and KnightDriver, I'm happy.

And frankly, I was secretly rooting the Eagles on because I'm tired of Patriot Super Bowl wins. I don't hate them, and in fact I admire them. You have to hand it to Tom Brady that I really wasn't sure that game was over until the last few seconds. But I'm still glad the underdog won, as I always am when it comes to sports games where I have no vested interest in either team. Now we'll have to update those "can't marry an Eagles' fan cause they don't have a ring" memes. Wink

Honestly, aside from the Sonic CD part, you pretty much described a night for me in my sophomore year of high school. Granted, the only illicit substances I've ever used are alcohol and weed, but that doesn't mean I've never ridden in a car with an LSD-taker seeing leprechauns before.

I'd like to draw an image of kids in a wildly moving car shooting bottlerockets out the window. I'd do it in cartoony style, maybe like something in Mad Magazine.

Also, as an animated object in a video game like Crazy Taxi.

it was kind of like a cartoon at the time.

I played Sonic CD a few years ago and man, doing that game the proper was is tough while sober! The mental image of you guys playing with Christmas lights is pretty funny though.

Going back and forward in time in Sonic CD is pretty neat even without drugs.

I didn't watch the Super Bowl this year.  Just didn't feel like supporting the NFL for various reasons.  Plus I had to work.

Have you ever played Katamari Damacy or Loco Roco?

I watched a girl play Katamari while I was on a date with her once, does that count? Tongue Out

I wanted a Sega CD back in the day for the Working Designs games: Lunar, Lunar 2, Vay, and Popful Mail. But I was still a kid and my parents weren't going to spring for a $150 add-on for a $150 console plus games, so I got a SNES and got Final Fantasy III (VI) on it. I preordered the Lunars when they came out on PS1, and they are still among my favorites. I even still have the complete packaging for both of them. I did try Sonic CD later on. Playing Final Fantasy VI for 16 hours straight when I first got it was the closest I ever got to a drug trip, LOL. I was wandering around the yard like a zombie. My mother was yelling at me about sitting up all night playing games. I think. My memory was kind of iffy on that incident.

I rooted for the Eagles because the Cardinals were long gone. :(

yeah I'm becoming a Cardinals fan, but the Eagles will always be my first love.

The SNES was obviously a better deal than the Sega CD setup.

True that. I still wanted Lunar. Thankfully they remade those for a console I actually owned, and it was awesome playing them after five years of wanting them. I'd have even bought a Saturn to play them.
