Our next inebriated adventure takes place in 1998/1999 when I was living with Gregg in a shithole apartment south of San Francisco during the Dot Com boom. I wasn't doing a lot of drugs then, but we would go out and drink, and when we came back we would play Smash Bros on the N64 all night.

I think that was the first iteration of Smash, and it was a revelation. So fucking fun. And conducive to drunkeness.  One time we had friends visiting and we stayed up all night walloping on each other, until Gregg (who is Jewish) made us Latkas, or potatoe pancakes, and we ate them with ketchup and Sriracha. Yum.

There was another "Gaming Under the Influence" moment around this time, where I was all fucked up on Dayquil and hooked up Gregg's Commodore 64 and played Maniac Mansion. He had figured out on the internet how to solder a device to connect the C64 to a modern hard drive and download games off the internet, so we had everything. But man, those C64 load times, you don't even know, man! I would just stare out into space, my grandma's knitted afghan blanket covering my cold legs.

Tune in tomorrow when we get stoned again!

C64 in '99 hooked up like that. Wow. I can only imagine the load times. I'll never complain about XBO installs again. Well, I probably will anyway.

That was pretty neat. Now they have emulators for all those old computers. I have emulators for TRS-80, Atari XL//XE, and TI-99/4A, which were the computers we had when I was a kid before I got my first IBM-compatible PC with MS-DOS.

I remember playing Smash with my cousins and wondering how the hell do you win at this game and why was I getting beat by little kids. Years later when I bought the Playstation version I kind of had an understanding.

South San Francisco. There's this spot I ate at one called Garden Club. Very mom and pop where everyone was drunk, the service was decent, presentation wasn't great, but damn the food was good. Did I mention everyone there was drunk?

I always thought the entire city was a bit odd. Super expensive meets hippie meets really dirty portions. I do like the weather.

It can be pretty. Not like it used to be.

I played Smash Bros with my sister and we would honestly tear each other apart. Maybe that's why our bond is so strong today, we didnt let Smash kill us,lol.
