Oh you knew during Stuff Chris Collects this topic would come up and today’s subject is Lego. Yup the little plastic pieces that apparently rival the price of gold on the resell market. Well the story starts out like this: growing up I didn’t have a lot of Lego and I would occasionally get the small sets. Lego really wasn’t a big deal to me so every so often I would get a set but I was mainly focused on GI Joe.

I didn’t get fully back into Lego until college when one of my art projects was to create packaging for a product. I chose the game Lego Island for the PC and the packaging involved selling the game with Lego bricks all in a box shaped like a Lego Block. I ordered the stuff I needed from the Lego website and maybe a couple of small sets that were on clearance to build in my dorm and from that point on I was back.

What I like about Lego is that you can build what the instructions tell you or you can let your imagination run wild. I built the Chicago Bulls logo, the Colorado Buffalos and a Nike shoe along with your run of the mill vehicles, houses, and fortresses. I don’t build as much anymore and now my focus has shifted from all the comics and Star Wars sets to just select sets from those genre’s and sometimes I’ll buy a set just for the minifigure. Up until a couple of years ago I had no idea there was a resell market for these little guys. Kind of makes sense considering when the NBA Sets were released years ago it was impossible to find the Kobe and Shaq figures. I don’t think I would ever sell off the figures, the blocks maybe but I like the little guys too much.

I’ve cut back a bit on Lego purchases with my last big set was the release of the newer version of the Millennium Falcon on it’s release day but every so often I’ll buy a set or two if it’s something I really like (I’m currently waiting for the Agent Coulson with Lola set to drop a bit)but earlier today after reading that a new batch of Lego Dimensions have hit the 99 Cent Only Stores and couple that with the local Toys R Us closing and I now add these goodies to my collection

01

The Lego Dimensions stuff went up to $1.99 but its stuff I don’t have so I can’t complain. I went to two different stores and the other stuff had maybe two of the Powderpuff Girls. Later on in the day I went to Toys R Us and certain sets were 10% off. The Big Bang Theory set along with the A-Wing Figures were also on clearance so it gets cheaper.

The Big Bang came out to $26 which is a steal, the A-Wing guys were like $1.80 each and the most expensive was the R2 Unit at $5 something. I might get another BB set tomorrow to keep sealed.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off to watch Team USA skate.

That’s all for now, more tomorrow!

Lego Big Bang Theory. Now I've seen it all.

It was part of their crowd source series where people submit ideas and the community votes on it. I wanted Lego Agents of SHIELD to be a thing. So far we only have a Coulson set with Lola.

I'm not much for Lego's but I got to say I have seen some sets I want but have no where to put it. I have cats and that stuff is like a ball of cat toys that they just have to play with if they see it.

Yeah I don't have a lot of room for sets either, and I can see Lego being a pain if you have pets. Most of my sets are unassembled living in plastic bins.

I used to like K'Nex a lot more as a kid. I also chose Digimon over Pokemon as far as cartoons go. I was a weird kid.

I tried K'Nex when I was youngeer. We had the crazy Roller Coaster set that eventually turned into a cap rack in my room.

There are some pics on my Versus blogs, and as well as some older blogs like the Christmas blog. As for the actual collection, most of it is in plastic bins unassembled.
