Happy Monday Pixlpeeps! For this week’s theme for BaD I thought I would try something different. I am going with the theme of Versus. For me Versus is not going to be a fight but more of a compare and contrast. It’s nothing fancy, a couple of pictures, some information and maybe some opinions. I’m currently going with the subject of Lego but I might change it at some point if inspiration hits (usually in the shower) but today we are starting off with the Lego set 4504 from 2004 Versus Lego set 75105 from 2015, the Battle of the Lego Millennium Falcons.

A little background: I bought the 2004 set when I met up with my then girlfriend at the Walmart of all places. We were shopping for various items when I spotted this bad boy in the clearance aisle for $50. I tried to get her to buy it for me but that was a no go, so I bought along with what I was there for: the Lego Snowspeeder set (as seen in my Deadpool and Santa take down the Rebellion Christmas Display). I don’t think I got around to building it until a couple of days later.

For the 2015 set I went to Star Wars Day launch at midnight at the local Toys R Us. It was the only Star Wars set I wanted because of the movie, and I didn’t get around to building it for a couple of weeks. Both are awesome sets, they both have some exclusive features and of course I like them both for different reasons.

The Interiors (2004 top, 2015 bottom)

 

Both use the wedge opening top which makes it easy to access the interior of the ship but the newer set is more open because the middle portion slides down while on the 2004 model the middle section would swing up. Also there is more detail in the engine room on the 2015 model.

 

In the gunner section in the middle of the ship the 2004 model has room for only one minifigure but does have a screen. The 2015 version has a slide out piece where two minifigures can sit back to back

 

There’s not much to the slide out section but with the lack of room, this is really all you need.

Also on the gunner section in the 2004 model I really didn’t care for the gun that came with the set because it wasn’t sturdy so I did an on the fly stand-in that I was supposed to replace but never got around to it. 2015 has a nice sturdy weapon and there was no need to fix it. Also the cover is on a hinge so I didn’t have to remove it to place a minifigure in, unlike the older set.

 

Now the 2004 set had some tricks up its sleeve that were left off this version:

 

There is an escape pod that sits inside the 2004 set on the opposite side of the entrance ramp. Speaking of ramp, if you pull on the side of the set a ramp would be lowered. 

For some reason the 2015 sets all needed some kind of weapon that actually shoots a projectile (thanks Disney) and this one has two in the front. The trigger is located behind it

I never purchased the first version of the Falcon, along with the set that was released between these two, and the huge Ultimate Collector’s Version which is really nice but way too big for me. My favorite has to be the 2004 because it was my first one. Both are nice sets, have different radar dishes, and are fun to have in my collection.
