Blog a Day #26

Hello everyone how are you? The Nintendo 3DS is 7 years old today. In Japan that is. Despite the Switch being out, the 3DS is still going strong. I also managed to find some of the images when I got my 3DS at launch. Unfortunately the quality is really bad since they are old.

And for those that might or might not remember, that is Porcelain Frog. It came with my 3DS :P Anyway the 3DS has brought me so many hours of fun and entertainment and it still is. I wish I could show off my 3DS collection but I don't have all my boxes on me at the moment. So instead I will direct a question to all of you. So, what are your favorite 3DS games if you have one?

And that's all for now. Thanks for reading and happy 7th anniversary 3DS!

The 3DS has been out for quite a long time.  And it really is still going strong.  I play it quite often.  I just beat Ever Oasis, am starting Kirby Battle Royale, and looking forward to Detective PIkachu.  I think my favorite 3DS game is Animal Crossing: New Leaf.  I think my favorite feature, though, is StreetPass.  I've had so much fun over the years with StreetPass games and features.

I still kinda want a cheap 3DS. How many games still actually use the 3D gimmick?

Not too many and even then you still don't usually need it. Kid Icarus Uprising is the only one I'd say should consistently be played in 3D because it helps with figuring which enemies are a bigger threat due to their distance away. Mario 3D Land uses it for the occasional bonus level to get an extra giant coin, but nothing essential. Link Between Worlds also uses it for one or two puzzles. Other than that, you won't ever be using it.

See, that actually is a turn-off for me; I kinda like the 3D gimmick. I would want more games to use it.

But I also want to play all of the 3DS Zelda games, so there's that.

Well I mean in a substantial gameplay sense. You still want 3D on, it'll be there, but those are the games that use it for more than cosmetics. Pokemon, Hey Pikmin, and a few others don't even bother now though. Stopped being a regular thing late 2016.

Oh, well that's fine. As long as I still get my gimmicky fare.

My favorite 3DS game is probably Pokemon Sun/Moon, with Link Between Worlds at a very close second. I didn't like it as much as the original DS, but it was still a pretty good system.

The 3DS is a good system. I actually bought more games for it than the original DS. I hope we'll see more 3DS style games migrate onto the Switch. My favorite games on the system are A Link Between Worlds, Pokemon X/Y, and Fire Emblem: Awakening.

I do get oral about the 3DS. I wish I could swallow it and make myself into a kind of teletubby - I guess I'd be a 3DStubby.

But seriously folks. My favorite is the Etrian Odyssey series. I'd also like to get back to games like Fire Emblem Echoes and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. I love some turn-based strategy on a handheld. Oh, and the Professor Layton series has been fun and surprisingly moving.
