"An American Sebastian"

Sometimes I have dreams at night about imaginary books I've apparently written in other universes. Last night though I had a spectacular one about a book that I'm inspired to turn into reality. It's called "An American Sebastian" and is inspired by the old TV show cartoon "Belle and Sebastian".  In it, a young man is searching the world for his mother, who has disappeared for some reason (she's not kidnapped or anything, he knows she's on the run for some reason). I don't know how I'm going to incorporate the dog side of the story, but I know he will have a dog, and over the course of the novel, the dog has its life and finally passes away, all while he's looking for his mother. I'd like to write about the relationship about a man and his dog from adoption to the dog's death.

I don't have a lot of other details other than those, and I don't have time to start writing it now as I have other projects, but this morning when I woke up I opened up a new word document and saved it without text as "An American Sebastian". One of these days....

I was thinking about dogs the other day too. I was watching Mad Max Road Warrior and his dog is kind of supernaturally smart and loyal to him. It got me thinking about that Harlan Ellison story A Boy and His Dog where the dog, from fallout after a nuclear apocalypse, gains telepathic powers. The boy and the dog team up to survive the wasteland. There was definitely some influence there in the movie.

Just reading the title, I thought this was going to be about the crab in the Little Mermaid. Dreams, they have some crazy things going on. A couple of nights ago I was a pro wrestler signing autographs in a random mall in Idaho and a random basketball team showed up. It was odd.
