It's been a while guys, but I'm still here. How is everybody? I've been watching a lot of twitch and playing Bloodborne again. More details below...
Randomizer Mods
Lately I’ve been enjoying watching twitch streamers use randomizer mods with Resident Evil 1, and it’s pretty fun to watch. I’ve watched Let’s Plays of the game for years now and speed run the game myself. Without the mod, speed running the game is essentially made easier if you only have essential key items on hand and keep your inventory open. That means going long stretches without healing items or weapons equipped. A careless mistake can end your run immediately, so it’s still very suspenseful even with the game layout memorized. Factor in a randomizer mod, where all the key items are swapped around the map and you might find yourself in a boss fight with no health items and just a basic weapon, like a knife. I saw one streamer do this the other night while he was screaming his head off stabbing a giant snake with a little knife for 25 minutes. Not fun for him, but entertaining for me. I’ve seen randomizer mods for Zelda games too. I think it’s a clever idea. It’s a way to freshen up familiar games and add a sense of discovery, like playing it for the first time all over again. I think it’s only for PC version of games so I probably won’t ever be able to try any.
Bloodborne
Speaking of familiar games, I’m playing Bloodborne again. There was a community campaign to revisit the game and help out beginners since it’s free on PS+ this month. I started a new characters and the game got its hooks into me again and now I’m near the end of the main campaign already. I’m trying to get through the DLC by the end of next week and maybe try some co-op with random players once I’ve leveled up some more. Did any of you finish Bloodborne? It’s still really good. Souls games are great when the whole community plays. Although, I’ve always played solo.
What do you think of Bloodborne?
Fortnite.
I’ve also been playing some Fortnite on PS4. I normally don’t like co-op games, but this has a survival element that adds suspense that I really enjoy. For instance, at the beginning everyone parachutes onto a giant island, then immediately upon landing start scavenging buildings for guns, ammo, crafting materials and it turns into a survivalist cover shooter. A giant storm wall starts closing in on the map and everyone rushes to the center of the map while trying to kill each other like hunger games. It’s very intense. I died a lot in the beginning, but started getting slightly better the more I played, and they also increased the frame rate and queue time to get into matches so it’s a lot better now.
Breath of the Wild
I got to the last boss in Zelda and took a break. I really didn’t want the game to be over and kept on exploring. It’s kind of like my Skyrim. I haven’t tried the DLC, but I think after a long enough break, I’m ready for more. Especially after Bloodborne. Oh my gosh is that game dark!!!
Playstation Plus
Is PS+ still worth a subscription? I haven’t subbed to PS+ because I don’t really play co-op games and don’t use online features, but I need it for Bloodborne Online mode at least. What are your thoughts on PS+ and it’s games? Do you use for online features like voice and such? I think Monster Hunter and Metal Gear Survive require it?
