Maniac Mansion, easily one of the best Adventure games ever, is now available for the first time on GOG.com. It's also on sale for only $4. This includes the original version and enhanced edition.

I never had a C64 growing up, but I played this when me and my friend Gregg were collecting consoles in San Francisco in the late ninteties. Of course, playing it on there had massive load times. This edition of course doesn't have that crap.

Check it out if you'd like. It's very cool.

Very cool. I have a GOG account but have never used it. If I get back into PC gaming, I'll definitely get Maniac Mansion. I still remember passing up the NES cart years ago at a flea market. Stupid me. I wish I had that now.

Oh it had a NES port?  Cool!

Yea, but I believe there were some compromises made to get it there. It's not the pure PC experience from what I've heard.

My favorite LucasFilm Games point and click adventure came out right after Maniac Mansion.  It was called Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders.  In the game you were a tabloid reporter and the game actually came with a mock tabloid newspaper with articles that gave you hints on how to solve the puzzles in the game!

Did you know there was a Maniac Mansion TV show at one point?  It was on a cable channel called The Family Channel, and aside from the title and names of some of the characters, it had NOTHING to do with the game other than having a slight Addams Family vibe.  The show was awful, though.

My friend Dan who had a C64 was obsessed with that Zak game. When we were kids he talked about it all the time. I've never even seen a screen shot I think.

I don't think I've ever played this game but that isn't a bad price especially if it includes the original and enhanced version.

yeah it's a pretty good deal. At this point, won't be a blockbuster, but it's pretty cool.

In regards to Maniac have the Commodore 64, Amiga, and NES versions via my emulators on my Xbox. I gave them a whirl after reading this. I've been far too pre-occupied playing Snake Pass on the Switch lately and needed something else lol.
