*I tried to upload this earlier but Flickr wasn’t working.

So I walk into the neighborhood gym this morning and my favorite treadmill is taken so I go to the one next to it with the better view of the back and it doesn’t work. Somehow between Friday and earlier this morning the dang thing is broken. No sign, no warning from the lady in the other treadmill, nothing. Instead I have to use the odd bicycle with a chair instead instead of a saddle contraption (I have no idea what this thing is called) but for the next hour or so I did get the same workout in all while being able to play a game on my phone as well as doing my usual watching whatever is on Prime and YouTube. Since a lot of people I subscribe to on YouTube are computer folks I always go through a phase of wanting to build a tower, and all the cool things I can jam into the tower. In the end however I always think about being able to use my laptop anywhere and I quickly snap out of the tower building fantasy. Happy Monday!

So last week was I kind of busy playing some games but the one I spent a lot of time with was a phone game but we will save that for later. Instead let’s start with Steam

NBA 2K18 - Steam

I started another save file, and I went with the same setup of an 80 year Franchise Mode with Expansion (I love this new feature) where I can add my created team to the existing NBA and I get to not only participate in the Expansion Draft but I also am guaranteed a top 5 pick in the regular NBA Draft. I created the basketball version of the Jacksonville Jaguars (same logo and color palette) and I went crazy with signing of free agents but this time I focused on the front court so I could play a slower 90s back the ball into the paint and take a 2ft shot offense. It’s fun and completely different to my other save which is a run and gun squad with smaller players.

Lego Marvel 2 - Steam

I really don’t want to type the whole name out because it takes too long. Anyways I’m still grinding through unlocking characters and bricks in the open world portion but there’s one puzzle in Lemuria that is frustrating. I have to go underwater and hit all these switches, but each time I have to charge up a section the other section runs out of juice. Of course after I type this I check YouTube, and it’s really easy to unlock this. Ugh! Anyways I’ll try this later on today.

There’s a new DLC that unlocked and the game really wants me to play it. Each time I open up the map it highlights it. I really don’t care about it right now because I want the extra characters and pink bricks.

I thought this image was funny. I screen grabbed it during a free play and it reminds me of Master Blaster from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Lego The Ninjago Movie Videogame - Switch

03

I picked this up yesterday for $20 (apparently there is a triple pack of this game, Lego Worlds, and Undercover being released soon so individually these games are Switch cheap). Anyways since I already own the other two I really don’t need to buy them again but Undercover is tempting. Anyways I’m not familar with the Ninjago line so this is a whole new environment for me and after playing an hour and only encountering one “This game has crashed” screen so far I like the presentation but the characters of kind of annoying.

04

The introduction to this game is like the fun 70s martial arts flicks coming out of Hong Kong. Think Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon intro with the jumpy frames as the movie company’s logo is presented with tinny music. Oh this got a laugh. Traveller’s Tales does a great job on the details. Anyways the game has some of the functions of the older Lego games but brings some new presentation and item purchasing to the game. I don’t know how I did it, but you earn a coin for doing something (probably just finishing a level) and you can spend it on any customization you want that is currently available. I quickly went for the more Lego studs because in the previous games this is how you bought items. The gameplay is the same as any other Lego game except you have some martial arts moves available to you and you have to mix them instead of button mashing because the enemies start to catch on to your Y button offense.

As for the characters the reason why I said I found them annoying is because of the generic voice overs. There really wasn’t any emotion which is a shame because I would have loved martial arts flick dubbed voice overs in this game. The first level I thought was long but it turns out the game just moved into different levels without me knowing, and by the time I got to the boss battle, I already went through three levels and then from that point on it went to explaining the open world portion. That’s where I called it a night. I want to play more of this game but I will save it for later on today.

Gear.Club Unlimited - Switch

I finished all the A level races, the majority of the B level races, and I started on the C level races because these races payout over 100K, and two races can upgrade the equipent in the garage, so I’ve been racing a couple of C races, earning cash, going to trick out the B level car and dominating those races.

I also started playing the online league portion where you race against ghost cars of other folks and see where you stand. I’ve done well with an underpowered car (I’m not going to waste money in leveling up A level cars when I finished all the races) and one race I got 2nd

05

That’s me!

You earn stars for your position in the game and I moved through a couple of ranks and now I believe I now race in the Semi Pro level.

Disney Emoji Blitz - iOS

This past weekend was a first for Blitz and that was an event where you faced off against others in their food fight mode. Food Fight mode is just like regular mode except you are trying to bring the cups of ice cream to the bottom of the board. There are also Jell-O cups that you use against your opponent where random emojis on their board get trapped in Jell-O cubes (have I ever mentioned that fruit suspended in Jell-O bother me? Another story for another time). There were four tiers: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert, and each tier had 9 levels. You had to earn enough stars to progress in each level to move to the next tier. Different emojis offered a 2X multiplier if used. Each game had 6 available stars. 6 for winning, 2 for losing, and 3 if you tied. At the end of this three day event you could unlock this character

06

I bought the character at the start of the game through the Diamond box, but I still played through the event and in the end I got another Vanellope.

The game was a lot of fun because you could see what other people around the world were using and for the most part I was dominating up until I hit the dessert tier and it seemed like I wasn’t getting as many chances at ice cream cups as my opponents and many times the game would be decided by 1-2 cups. Either way it was a lot of fun and I hope they do something like this again.

Adventures With Epic Games

Well I still haven’t heard back from Epic, I tried calling their office but when I get to the section for all other questions I get the busy tone (it’s 2018, and this is supposed to be a good sized company, while am I getting the busy signal?) and I got an email this morning stating that someone is trying to get into this account. I wrote another email and finally I get a case number and the we’ll get back to you email. This is what good customer service is?

With all the hassle I’m going through with this company I decided to use an email address I use to sign up for random crap apps (looking at you Podcast One) to see why their game is so high in demand. I will not connect a credit card, nor will I link it to my other accounts because of how “awesome” their service is. It’s currently downloading as I type this.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I need to edit the pics for this entry, upload, and then copy everything over to Pixlbit so I can make it to the opening of the local Costco*. Have a good week!

*I didn't go to Costco because I was too busy trying to find a way to contact "Epic" (frustration) Games.

That’s all for now, more later!

Yeah I probably won't get to 10. I tend to play a full schedule at 5 min quarters and 2K16 I probably played enough games for 5 full seasons before I bought this game.

Their customer service is HORRIBLE. The last company I encountered that made you jump through this many hoops to cancel their service was AOL.

Epic? More like Epic Fail.

That Vanellope face reminds me of Sara SIlverman's face and the nightmares I have of her tormenting me. Just kidding. But if any floating head in a dream could make me wake up in a cold sweat, it might be Vanellope. She's got that crafty smile that says, "I've found a way to make you look rediculous."

I'm in a real mood for more casual gaming like Letter Quest and any Lego game. I'll have to see what's on Game Pass along those lines tomorrow.

I do like the character design in Disney Emoji Blitz. The faces get animated when you tap on them which is funny and there are a couple of special ones.

Casual games are the best especially when you don't want to spend a lot of time playing them. Quick hits and you're on to something else.

Yea, I'm getting in the habit now of bouncing back and forth from both styles of game. Casual can be a relief from being swallowed by such massive worlds as we have today in games.

When I reviewed the LEGO Ninjago game, they sent me tickets to see the movie, too.  Which is good because otherwise I wouldn't have gone to see it. :)

The Ninjago franchise isn't something I am interested in but I played their old racing game on iOS a while ago and it wasn't bad. I finished another section and the game is getting better.
