Chris Yarger, who I talk to every day on text, finished Zelda. He got a Switch about two months ago, and is kind of a Nintendo hater... it was a present for his sons. But I told him Zelda was good. He eventually changed his mind. But the other night he told me he was facing the final boss, and a little while after that he told me it was done. I'm way behind in Zelda, but I hope to get back to it eventually.

I went to San Francisco this weekend to see some friends and go to a concert for the Breeders, but unfortunately I chicked out with the concert at the last minute - couldn't handle the crowd or the noise.  So I didn't go. Kind of feel bad about it.

I'm writing a lot. I'm writing a sort of preposterous historical fiction short stories, which isn't so different from the fan fiction I used to write, but is now about historical characters rather than superheroes and stuff. Right now I'm writing a John Wayne short story. In it, Wayne finds a black baby in a dumpster behind thhe studio and gets it into his head he's gonna take care of it. The result is kind of funny, but also tragic.

Anyway, like I said I've been very productive. I hope to get back to Ni No Kuni this week though.

Is that like the reverse version of Steve Martin's The Jerk?

Ha ha.  "I don't need you, I don't need anyone... except this..."

I want to do those castle things in Ni No Kuni II. I may try and rent it from the library next week.

I'm right up to the point where you start building your town but I haven't played it since I got back.

Zelda BOTW borrowed so many good ideas from really good games. I don't think I could have taken another linear Ocarania clone honestly. It also does a lot of wonderful things with physics. I can't wait to see what the sequel will look like, considering BotW was a WiiU port.

Out of curiousity, are The Breeders you are referring to the 90s alternative band?

Yes. I've followed them since the nineties and they release a new album every five to ten years. I just love their music.

I finally got into liking the new Zelda but Im really hoping they make changes by the next game. There are just several things I dislike about it. This is the first Zelda game that I had to start a second time to get into. I have Ni No Kuni 2 but I have yet to even start it. I might finally do that this weekend.

I wish there were more dungeons and more story, but I'm also very impressed with a lot of other things. It's not my favorite, but I appreciate their willingness to shake up the formula.

I remember when Yarger used to actually blog. I’m glad he’s seen the light with the Switch at least. Now talk him into playing Odyssey! Tongue Out

he's really busy with family and work these days, plus he doesn't have a computer to blog from. He's doing good though. His boys played Odyssey and beat it. He watched but didn't seem interested in playing.

I haven't been to SF since I was 5. I am currently planning a trip with my friend to Rocky Point in Mexico near the Arizona line for her birthday.

it's a beautiful city, and I love it, but it's changed a lot since I lived there in the 90s.
