I played the original Strange Journey. Game had such a strange soundtrack. Actually the whole thing was weird. I didn't get very far, but I really enjoyed the vibe.
I'm gonna pick up that Sega Classic collection I think.

Games Beaten
-Metroid Prime Trilogy: Metroid Prime (Wii)
Metroid Prime is my favorite game and I'm glad to say that, even 16 years later—EVEN with waggle controls—it's still awesome. I was surprised by how well the game holds up visually. Unsurprisingly, the gameplay, progression, world building, and immersion are still topnotch. The MP3-esque motion controls are a step down from the original GameCube version, in my opinion, but do not hurt the overall playability of the game. I just wish the collection gave you the option to play either way.
Games Bought
My wife bought Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (PS4) and I got Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux (3DS). I always wanted to play the DS original, so I figured it was now or never. I also bought SEGA Genesis Classics (PS4), which is surprisingly robust (50 games!). The only PS+ game I picked up that I didn't already own some version of was Risen 3: Titan Lords (PS3). It doesn't have the best reviews but sounded interesting enough to snag and throw in the "maybe someday" pile.
Now Playing
-Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (Switch)
Started playing this game just today. This is the retro-style bonus game from the main kickstarter campaign. It's good! Very much NES-era Castlevania.
-SEGA Genesis Classics: Alien Soldier (PS4)
This game is the main reason I bought this collection. I love me some Treasure action! This is the first time this game has been available in English here in America (the Japanese version did come to Wii Virtual Console though). It's tough!
-Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3)
This game is really getting intense and can be quite tough.
-Destiny 2 (PS4)
After playing a lot of PvP for a while, I'm trying to get back into the PvE content. Did the Nightfall for the first time last week in a while.
The original Strange Journey was intensely difficult, even for this series and genre. I didn't get very far. I've heard they lowered the difficulty (the original games difficulty is apparently expert difficulty in this version) and added a ton of quality of life features to the new version, so I might pick it up at some point.
I really want to get back into Destiny 2 at some point, though I don't have a pc anymore and don't want to rebuy it on console. I loved the pvp too, and spent much more time in it than I thought I would. It's surprisingly fun given I dont usually like competitive shooters and usually prefer pve content in online games.
Heard good things about Curse of the Moon, might pick it up at some point. Love me some Vania, classic or post SotN.
The Risen series is jank as fuck but I find it weirdly charming. I like the series, though it's not for everyone. If you do end up liking it I highly recommend Elex.
I did make it all the through SMT IV (eventually), so that gives me some hope for Strange Journey. Hope for me, that is lol. I'm a little nervous to start it though.
The new fall expansion for Destiny 2 looks pretty good, and I'm definitely excited to try out the new PvPvE Gambit mode.
