So here we are Friday, and I do miss you. Hello Pixlpeeps it is a freaking hot day here in sunny Southern California. We are looking at excessive heat warnings because hell is a lot cooler. Yeah so remember when I had a family member in the hospital? Well they are home now, and for the past couple of days I’ve been camped out on the couch and helping them when needed and this threw off my sleep pattern. You would think I would spend some of the down time on the laptop but it was more iPad and sleeping. Anyways things are looking up and it looks I could be back in my bed tonight (YAY!) Anyways let’s get started.
Chris Reads…
Deception Point - Dan Brown: I finished this book earlier this week and other than the end I really enjoyed this book. I get why some didn’t like it because it followed a formula but if the book was entertaining and I didn’t want to stop reading, what’s the problem? This is a story I would like to see turned into a summer popcorn flick.
Medium Raw - Anthony Bourdain: I started reading this book right after finishing Deception Point, and not being able to go back to sleep because, sleeping on the couch. When I added books to my Kindle app, the Bourdain set was with the first group of books added because I liked Kitchen Confidential. So far this is more of the same including why he made fun of other TV Chefs.
Chris Listens To…
I neglected my podcasts for some odd reason and I’ve been playing catch up, often skipping some of the episodes that seem uninteresting. While listening to one music/today’s culture pod they went into sports. Now I already know most of the people on this podcast have no idea what they are talking about but they push their opinion as truth. It was insane about some of the takes they had and at times I just hit fast forward. At the time of this entry I am about three days behind.
Chris Watches…
The Affair - Showtime: Last week Billions had their season finale and this past week my other favorite Showtime show The Affair starts right up. This season everyone is now in Los Angeles but will still have ties back in New York. What I like about this show is that each episode has a story and is told from both sides. The first half, one person’s point of view, the next half the other person’s point of view.
Other than this show, and waiting for the next installment of The Challenge I really haven’t been watching much of anything on a regular basis. I’ll check out whatever randoms are on network TV or watch different shows on The Science Channel, and then mix in some Amazon Prime. When my trial of Spotify ends and I shift to a regular account I will add the Hulu option for an extra $2/month.
Pickups
Oh you know Steam Summer Sale is going on, and I am trying to kind of stay away. Yeah that didn’t work but so let’s see what I got
First from Fanatical earlier in the week, during their Star Deal, a game I’ve been waiting on for the uber everything edition to be not only released but to hit $20
I enjoyed the vanilla Injustice 2 on the PS4, and I wanted both Injustice games on the PC especially this one because of the DLC characters like a couple of heroes in a half shell. I vowed to actually learn some moves while playing this game so I left the difficulty on default and I pause a lot to read the cheat sheet on how to pull off some moves. I figure once I get one character down, the moves are bascially similar if not the same for the other characters and I can move up to mediocre instead of button mashing horrible.
Next, games that are on Steam
Not exactly a Triple A title but I wanted to try it and since it hit a $1, why not? Next game I wanted to give a try when it went on sale and I grabbed it
$10 for the vanilla. I think the DLC is like $4 but I want to see if I really like it before jumping in. The last game I bought from Steam yesterday is a game I actually wanted to try out on the Switch. I saw it was on sale through Slick Deals, and I went to YouTube to check out a review and it turns out it was a game that was released on the consoles and PC. I went on Steam and surprise I could get the game, and the DLC for $3 less than the Switch version
I was sold on the top down racing, and Mantis Burn Racing looked like fun. I will most likely play this game right after I finish with you good people.
I also picked up an iPad game super late/really early last night for $2
It sounds like fun to have a ship, a crew, and try to fix problems while doing stuff in space.
Music
Google Play gave away a couple of albums….quick tangent: remember a couple of years ago Google Play would give away a ton of music? Now not so much, but it was fun building a nice library on their servers. Anyways going back to Google Play’s offerings, I already own one of the albums and the other album I have all the songs but you can’t say no to free.
Ariana Grande and The Beach Boys. If you have a Google Play account, add them to your library!
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I might take some me time with an early morning nap considering I was up at 4:30am, went to sleep at 5, and was up again at 6:50am. During that odd 30 minutes you find some random things to read on Twitter and Reddit. Anyways have a good weekend Pixlbit!
That’s all for now, more later!
