My ASUS ROG Strix came in yesterday and I'm excited. I'll post pictures later. Only used it for job applications thus far, but it's a gaming laptop, and the keys light up! It looks all futury.

Now I need a mouse to test this FPS are better on PC theory.

Nice! And a steam summer sale to go with it.

Staying the HELL away from that until I find gainful employment again.

Set yourself a limit And don't pass it. I go at some pretty solid games for a total of 10 bucks. Just shop for games under $10 or $5, and you might be surprised.

yup. Just adds stuff to wishlist and wait for it to be under $5-$10 during sales. GOG and Humble Bundle have really good sales now and then, but I like keeping everything under one account--Steam.

I don't have one, but I love those light up keyboards. I want a green one!  I saw one at E3 that changed to all sorts of colors!  Yeah I'm easily amused.

This one is definitely multicolored.

Mouse shooting might take a bit to get used to if you're only used to Gamepads. well, the keyboard part of the equation anyway. Its more responsive and much more precise, but it takes a while to "get good" at. It's also worth taking considering that it will make you notice framerate much more. On a game pad, it's nowhere near as noticeable but with a mouse the difference between 30 and 60 fps are pretty strong, to the point that lower frame rates with the mouse are enough to make me feel sick At times.

I only really notice console frame rates if things get choppy or don't feel smooth. Interesting.

Way to go on the new laptop!

I need a new one myself. Mine is all beaten to hell and its like over 3 years old if my time frame for when I got it is correct but its not in the cards for right now.

Mine was 6 years old (bought it 2012), and was also beaten.

My laptop is 7 years old and falling apart. I might get a new one, but it'll probably be a more utilitarian machine since I don't really game with Steam. I've seen the gaming laptops though, they look kinda cool.

I actually didn't buy it for gaming primarily. The specs are just good for things like Adobe Suite and I might need to start building my portfolio more again.

Several friends who work in IT or know computers recommended ROG.

But gaming was admittedly a close second.

Like I said, I'm not really in a "spending" position at present and I already have tons of games I haven't played on both PS4 and Steam. I'll likely hold out unless I REALLY want something that is $5 or less.

Nice laptop. Mine's like almost a decade old now. I'm worried.

It's cool you can gift people things so easily now. I often tease my friend Mark that I will gift him a game on Xbox I know he won't like. Ah, stupid things I would do if I were wealthy.
