I used to play racing games quite a lot but in recent years I havent that much. It was never a strong genre for me but I did find them fun, especially as a preteen. I certainly havent seen any in recent years that get me excited or anything. I played Need for Speed and Midnight Club alot.

I spent the majority of my gaming time this past week with Racing games. You would think it would get boring playing the same genre over and over but I enjoy racing around playing different types of racing games. Whether it has a story, upgrading and buying new cars, or just a casual game, I like racing games and spent time with a number of different games.
Grid - Steam
Since finishing off Grid 2, and having Motorsport not loading, this was the only game I need to finish. Out of the three areas, America, Europe, and Japan, I worked on Japan and finished off the second level of races, unlocked the third level as well as some super level (that’s what I call it). I think I’m going to finish off the Japan section before going back to America and then Europe. Both are on the second level, but Europe has a bunch of Endurance races and I’m going to save those for last.
Little Racers Street - Steam
This is a top down racing game that plays like you’re racing on ice but I actually enjoy this game because it’s not really serious, and you play at your own pace. There’s really no story and you can keep racing a certain level until you meet all objectives and then move up to a different level, or once you save enough cash just move up. I play maybe three or four races to get my fix of quick racing and then move on.
Mini Motor Racing Evo - Steam
It’s like Little Racers with better graphics but horrible controls. I shouldn’t say horrible because once you get the hang of it, it’s not bad, but you have to get into that mindset or else you keep running into the walls. I had to change the controls from default to just left and right. It’s a bit easier but again if you’re not in the mindset you’re crashing.
The game is forgiving in that you can replay races as much as you want and you don’t get penalized for it. It’s kind of like the Ivan Stewart game on the NES where random power-ups and money pops up on the course.
NFS: Shift - Steam
I played through this on the PS3, but since I bought this game in a bundle along with Shift 2, which I never played, I wanted to get used to the series. I only played maybe the tutorial and the first race but it should be fun to get back into this game.
NFS: Undercover - Steam
Yeah this was also in the NFS bundle I bought and yeah it’s another PS3 game but I never finished it so why not give it a play now? The one thing I didn’t like was when you first start you are playing with default settings so 4:3 screen, and using the left and right keys on the keyboard. After that race and cut scene you can finally go into settings to change the resolution, and mapping buttons to the controller. The graphics aren’t great, but I do love the movie-like cutscenes, and there’s something with the graphics that feel good. The plot is basically Fast and the Furious; you’re a cop who needs to go undercover in the street racing world to find out who are the criminals.
Moto RKD Dash - Steam
This is the game that based it’s design on the Tomy Racing Turbo toy you can find at any swapmeet, but plays like Super Hang-On where you race section to section before you run out of fuel. You dodge other racers, try not to crash on oncoming turns, and other obstacles. It’s a fun casual racer where you try and get the high score each time you race.
Horizon Chase Turbo - iPad
I’m still playing through this game and I just unlocked a new car as well as an upgrade so instead of tackling new sections I went back to races that I finished 2nd and 3rd on. Once race I still need a faster car, so I will tackle it again at a later date.
So that’s what I’ve been playing this past week. I might take a break from some of them before I get racing burnout but games like Grid I know I can finish because I’m close to the end. NFS: Undercover might take a little more time but I’m playing through the game in chunks and having the fastest car in the game helps. Anyways I am off, have a good week!
That’s all for now, more later!
