I was on Youtube and I saw these video's about people having their Switch's cracking. I was like well that is probably from using the base, which I've never unwrapped because of the screen scracthing issues I heard about from launch. I take really good care of my consoles, so I figured mine was cool. So I said what the heck I'll check. Look at it! I'm pissed! I need some leather gloves so I can slap Nintendo and say  "I demand Satisfaction!" I've never dropped it or let the kids play on it. Ugh!

Anyway, am I justified in being pissed?

Later,

Homeless

Not sure. I will report it to Nintendo then wait to see what they say. This aparrently is becoming a big issue.

This is the first time I've read about Switches developing spontaneous cracks, but when I read this, I looked at my Switch. Thankfully, no cracks. I also googled it to see how widespread the issue was.

One theory I've seen a lot is that one of the screws might have been over-tightened at the factory putting stress on the plastic casing. If the cracking is a factory defect, I'd say you definitely have a right to be pissed that a $300 piece of electronics is developing cracks like that.

I didn't see the screw article. I went into a rage when I saw my Switch cracking. I got mine at launch, So I'm sure the warranty is up. Yeah, dropping $300 on a console is a lot for me to drop at one time. Even though I paid over time for it at GS and only owed like $50 when I picked it up.

Yeah, keep an eye on yours. I didn't think mine would be doing this. I am very particular about my consoles. I have console cleaning days, lol.

I got my Switch at Christmas, so I don't know to what degree that impacts the chances of mine getting defects like the cracks and scratches and dead pixels that I've been reading about. I've been lucky, I guess.

I remember the original Game Boy getting dead lines in the screen when I got it. It would develop random verticla dead lines along the right edge that would flicker on and off, and I also got a permanent horizontal dead line in it after I accidentally dropped it a coupld feet. :(

Well Nintendo i will get an earful from me tomorrow. I have all of the Nintendo consoles and this is the first one I've ever had an issue with. I guess as long as it still plays, though. I know this, I will never do a Launch Nintendo product here on out.

I checked my Switch just now and didn't see any cracks on mine.  Does yours still work?

It does.

I checked mine too. No crack. But I got mine a while after launch. Don't know if that makes a difference.

I hope yall don’t have this issue come up. I have console cleaning days. Kinda sucks because my Nintendo consoles look great and they are way older than my Switch. I love my Switch.

Just checked mine too. No crack so far but it won't be a year old until August.

I guess it is only happening  to launch Switch’s.

Yea, launch product can be an issue. I heard 10% of product is defective in one way or another expecially at launch. But, there's the warranty for that sort of thing. You should exchange it for another one.

I’m afraid not, my console went out of warranty in March.
