*So get this, for some odd reason my Photoshop was crashing. After an hour or so of YouTube, and message boards, I switch the preferences over from the integrated graphics to NVIDIA and boom everything works again. This stopped me from uploading this entry but now it works and I'm happy. Ok back to the actual blog
Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a not too hot but humid morning here in sunny Southern California. The past couple of days we got hit with some rain which was nice but it only seem to hit in spurts. The funny thing was that the local news did their cut into prime time to talk about Flooding and rain storms and used one location which was a street that had puddles and the sun was out. It was funny but again it shows how Southern California seems to go nuts when it rains yet when it’s a 10000 degrees outside it’s no big deal. It’s the things you’re used to I guess. Anyways let’s get started with today’s Quick Hits!
Chris’ Goals Watch
So last week I gave an update on where I am at in my 2018 goals along with adding a couple. Well I can proudly say I knocked out Backing Up my Music Library. Last week I finally added all my audio files to an external I named Musicbee Library. Once this was finished I erased my previous save on the music backup drive and spent the day copying over the files. Now I have a backup. I am thinking about doing this every 6 months but instead of copying over everything each time I just keep track of what I added to Musicbee on a wod doc.
-I still need to create an GMail profile for my pickups photos. I figure if I create a new email, I will have access to it’s Good Photos option and just upload everything there in addition to my photos backups.
-For my music on my phone, it turns out on my Phone 2017 playlist I had around 2500 songs. I got rid of around 300, and I am slowly going through the list and seeing what I really want to keep on the phone and what I can just stream.
My Living Social Was Hacked
A couple of days ago I received an email thanking me for a purchase through my Living Social account. I haven’t used this account in years, and frankly I forgot about it. I checked it out and someone named Melinda used my account, and changed the default name to hers. I then got worried that my card was on file, and thankfully it wasn’t but another person’s card and info was used. I was livid. The first thing I did was change the password on this account, I took screen shots, and then I notified Living Social.
The next day I got an email asking for details, and I provided them the details about this as well as where this Melinda person wanted deals from a particular location. I’m angry that my account was used, and that someone was scammed out of $5. Hopefully everything gets resolved so I can cancel my account.
Chris’ Randoms
-Yesterday while browsing YouTube for more random videos I saw one about dual screens. I remembered that awhile back I bought an app on my old Macbook Pro where I can use the iPad as a second screen. The app is called Duet and I thought it was Mac only. Well turns out I can download the PC version and I am back to having dual screens
I put the max resolution on the iPad and as you can see my toolbar is really small. I dropped it down and it’s a little bigger. Currently I use this extra screen real estate as my home to iTunes. I figured it was only fitting to have iTunes play on the iPad.
-I tried out Amazon Prime’s book check out after finding a book that captured my attention. The Song Machine: Inside The Hit Factory (<---Link to New York Times Article) by John Seabrook was this book and it quickly became the book I go to when I have a couple of minutes of free time. In fact while on the treadmill at the gym, I take my phone out and I read a couple of pages. So far I think I am 50 pages in and the author talks about how the pop music world has evolved from the 90s. So far I am at the part where a music studio in Sweden was opened and how they discovered the 90s band Ace of Base all because their demo was stuck in a producer’s tape deck in his car. He kept listening to their demo found some catchy parts and the group tweaked their song which became All That She Wants. So far it’s a fun read to see what goes on to make a pop record.
-A couple of days ago I woke up really early like a couple of hours before my alarm. I watched a random YouTube video about how Astronauts wash their hair, and then I found Justice League on HBO. I’ve never seen it, so I watched. You know for what people said about it, it really wasn’t that bad. Of course you know you’re in trouble when you have a flick that has DC’s three biggest characters, and Aquaman is the best thing about the movie. Its a good popcorn flick, and I watched it again a day later.
-I’m still watching trashy reality TV. The Challenge is back which is great especially since the first episode had everything you could want: an opening event, twists, rivalries, drunk people doing stupid stuff, and of course fighting.
Big Brother had eviction night and the guy with his nickname on his shirt got tossed. For someone who is a “super fan” (this is such a stupid term that Big Brother uses) he really didn’t follow what you’re supposed to do. Never make yourself a target, yet he wore shirts with his nickname on it, was full of himself, won challenges, and got into an early showmance. I think the thing that bugged me was when he ranted in the App room talking about all his accomplishments and got pissed when he wasn’t the top trending person in the house. He played hard but you also have to be smart about it. Don’t stick out too much, be more low key and he would have gone farther in the game, if not win it.
Pickups
I didn’t buy any games this week but I did download a couple of freebie games. One is a freemium game, and the other is a full on free game with no in app purchases
Yup another solitaire game that I will try out.
I never played a Star Ocean game but I figure the mobile game is a slimmed down version of the console releases. A perfect way for me to try it out and see if it is something I want to play more of. It worked for Fire Emblem, and maybe I find another game I really like.
I bought a book! Actually I bought a eBook copy of the Bible to go along with the audiobook I have and a print copy I bought back in college for a Bible as Lit class. Here’s the kicker about purchasing this book. I couldn’t do it through the Kindle app, I couldn’t do it through the Amazon app, instead I had to open up Amazon on a browser window just to purchase the book. C’mon Amazon.
All right Pixlbit I am off. Enjoy the weekend, and I shall talk to you next week!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris

I heard that Star Ocean game isn't bad.
Goddamn Photoshop!!
It's been raining here too, which has been really nice. Cooler days is defnitely nice. The humidity gets bad though when it gets a little hotter. Hate humidity.
You sure get hacked a lot!

I used to love my dual screen setup when I was into PCs. I used it for photography. Tools on one side, image on the other. I loved that. I guess I could do that with my laptop and phone right now. Phone's a little small. Not sure what the use of that would be.
