Incredibles LEGO sounds pretty fun, especially if it has both movies in it. I get why you have to go through the sequel stuff first, since it's recent and the game is really aimed at kid being exposed to 2 first. Still, I get why you'd think that's a bit weird.

Duh duh duh duhhhhhh! It’s super reviews to the rescue! And if you read these reviews, you’ll get super powers, too! Let me know which ones you get in the comments section, and tell me what super powers you think I should have. Anyway, enough silliness. Please click on the links and read as many GamerDad reviews I’ve written lately, and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it.
Obviously this is based on the movie. You can play out both the original and sequel, but you have to play the sequel stuff first, which is a little weird. You can tell this was made by the LEGO B-team, but it’s still pretty good and has elements of LEGO City Undercover, so you know that means their B-team is getting better!
This is not a game, but a robot toy I reviewed. I don’t do that very often, but back in the Dallas Morning News days, I reviewed game accessories all the time in the Gadgets & Gizmos section of the technology pages of the newspaper. Ah, those were the days. Anyway, you know those car toys where you draw a line and the toy will follow it? Well this is just a more advanced version. You can draw different colored lines and if they are in a certain pattern, or code, the robot will do certain things like turn or spin. You can also connect it to an app. So it’s kind of educational. There are skins you can put on top of it, and I got a Hulk skin which adds extra sounds and movements (too bad there wasn’t a She-Hulk one). The only big problem I had with this was that it’s way too expensive at 100 bucks. I know these educational toys are pricey, but that’s still a lot. At least the Avengers skins are more reasonably priced at 15 bucks.
And speaking of educational games, I finally got around to this. I wanted to do this at the same time as my other Labo projects, but E3 got in the way so I decided to focus on it separately after I got back and everything was all settled down again. So here it is! I have to say that the Labo games are much better educational products than the Ozobot was!
This is a surprisingly good combination of platforming and pinball action, so it’s a lot like Sonic Spinball. It also has Metroid exploration elements, too. You play as a dung beetle who must roll a ball around an island delivering stuff. It has some control and backtracking problems, but it’s one of the better indie games out there and I highly recommend it if it sounds interesting to you.
This is a free-to-play title out on both Switch and mobile, but I think it makes for a better mobile game. You explore an island and have cube shaped Pokemon fight each other. You don’t get much control over the battles, though, so you do a lot of watching. Not much of a game, but I do like the cubist graphics.
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle (PS4)
It’s a fighting game featuring characters from BlazBlue, Under Night In-Birth, Persona, and RWBY. It’s like BlazBlue meets Marvel vs. Capcom. Can you guess who my favorite BlazBlue character is?
The latest in my amiibo collection are the two announcers from Splatoon 2. Speaking of which, has anyone tried the Octo Expansion yet? I was thinking about it, but at 20 bucks I’d want to make sure I had time for it. I also heard it was really hard. Anyone know? Who is your favorite announcer from Splatoon and its sequel? My favorites are Callie in the first game and Marina in the second.
SEEDS: The Magic Garden (iPad)
This color matching puzzle game is pretty unique. You have to match colored squares so a vine can go through them and grow to the top. They also have a promotion where if you donate enough of your earned coins, you can have a real tree planted somewhere. But you have to have over 1800 coins to do that, and while reviewing this game I only got 100, so you really have to EARN that tree!
And finally is this music and rhythm game that plays like Guitar Hero. Lots of Asian style techno, but also has classical and chiptune songs as well. I like the chiptune stages because they change the background to 8-bit with a sushi bar motif. Two chibi 8-bit girls sit at the bottom of the screen and eat the sushi that scrolls down if you push the buttons right. But the game is also way too hard.
And that’s all for now! Thanks for reading and commenting on my reviews. I really appreciate it! --Cary
