I’m getting Sonic Mania plus this week, ugh! I said I wasn’t going to buy anymore games until September. The game looks so good and I love that art book.

Games Beaten
-F-Zero (SNES Classic)
I've never been a fan of 2D racing games but F-Zero is pretty fun. It's a great technical showcase for the SNES and manages an impressive sense of speed for the time. The number and diversity of courses is a little lacking but it's not that big a deal. What I hated was the occasional pinball physics after getting bumped. And what the heck is up with all the extra cars clogging up the track? Plus the game is very stingy with shield recharge energy. Fun but frustrating at higher difficulties.
-Alien Soldier (PS4)
Though not Treasure's final Genesis game (that honor goes to the odd Light Crusader), Alien Soldier makes a fine bookend to Treasure's Genesis output. The music is merely good enough but the sprite work is gorgeous and the variety of the myriad bosses always keeps you on your toes. Between your move set and the different guns, Treasure provided everything you would need to tackle this challenging game. Alien Soldier is a fine counterpart to Gunstar Heroes and certainly should not be missed.
Games Bought
I took advantage of several sales in July. I finally bought Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice (3DS) when it suddenly dropped to $12 on the eShop instead of its usual $30. I also bought Darksiders: Warmastered Edition (PS4) and Sine Mora EX (PS4) during a PSN flash sale. We got Star Wars Battlefront II (PS4) in the same sale because my oldest son has recently gotten into Star Wars but we haven't dropped it on him yet. We also downloaded Super Mario 64 (Wii U VC) for him and he did quite well with that. My wife picked up Pokémon Ultra Sun (3DS) because it was on sale and she can't say no to those mainline Pokémon games lol. Rayman 3 HD (PS3) and Absolver (PS4) from PS+ rounded out the month.
Now Playing
-The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
I finally started this monstrous adventure and it has really sucked me in. I'm going to go take on the Divine Beast in Zora's Domain...if I can ever pull myself away from exploring and completing shrines!
-Destiny 2 (PS4)
The year's big expansion is just a month away but Destiny is eating up my time with the new Solstice of Heroes event that started this week. It's pretty cool.
-Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3)
Still working on my Ranger.
