Pixlpeeps, so it is Friday and earlier this morning I had another trip to the dentist. No gory details but I do have one more appointment and then I am golden…but I have to back in 4 months. I’m happy, the good people there are nice, and out of all this I have a swanky new toothbrush, and learned how to properly brush and floss. I just woke up from a nap, the fun stuff that numbs your face has worn off and now I am writing to you good people so let’s get updated with what has been happening.

Chris Listens To…

01

This was released last night but I didn’t get to listen to it until earlier today and well even if this isn’t my favorite from Em, it is a lot better than his previous album. I don’t think I will be buying a physical copy but there are a couple of tracks I added to my 2018 Spotify playlist.

I’m currently listening to The Cranberries Everybody Else Is Doing It, Why Can’t We? and it’s like rediscovering this album because I haven’t listened to it in forever. Aside from the big two tracks, Dreams, and Linger, there are some really solid songs like Sunday, Wanted, and Put Me Down. High School Chris missed out putting Dreams and Linger on a lot of mixtapes. I really like Sunday because of how haunting Deloris sounds in the beginning, and then goes into this more conventional pop song.

Chris Reads…

Ok so I’ve been slacking and now I think I am behind my pace considering tomorrow is a new month. I guess the new goal for this weekend is finish the book on Stupid History and cut into the other book I borrowed from the Kindle App.

Randoms

- After my dentist appointment on Wednesday I went to the local mom & pop when they opened. Since I was the only person in the store, the manager let me check out the employee section in the back where they have all new stock that they haven’t put out yet. I was told the owner bought five thousand CDs over the weekend and this was most of it. I got first crack at a bunch of new stuff. There was so much I wanted to buy but I’m trying to not spend over $20 in there so I found a couple I wanted and left. Still it was kind of cool to be back there. I always thought working in a music store would be awesome.

- I am ready for the fall. With the sounds of College Football back, I am ready for it to be cool again. The only drawback is that everything is starting to be pumpkin spice flavor. Slow down there Starbucks.

- I saw that Spotify teamed up with Showtime and added it to their student bundle. Since the student bundle of Spotify and Hulu eventually made it to the general public, I’m excited if Showtime also follows this trend. I have the channel already but my local cable folks don’t allow the app for some odd reason.

- There are a ton of these websites that offer old 80s-90s PC games to download and I figure they would be fun to have on the mini travel laptop. Of course there are some hoops to jump through to make old games work with Windows 10, and that is going to be my fun for the weekend. It’ll be awesome to have a bunch of old titles that don’t take up too much room on the mini laptop. Younger Chris would be excited for this.

Pickups

Games

Another game for the Switch

02

I can’t remember if someone here bought this game, but I remember reading it somewhere and saw some video about it and for $8 it was worth a try. So far I am playing through the first mission/level (?) and I like it. I saw that if you try and play online you’re offline single player gets erased so I don’t think I’ll try the online stuff.

Music

First from the local mom & pop. I didn’t spend all my time on the $1.99 section

03

Fort Minor was $4, and Lupe Fiasco was $2.

04

Siouxsie & The Banshees and Wings were $6 each. These were in the uber excusive employee’s only section.

From earlier today after my appointment I stopped at Goodwill because I was feeling good (numb bottom face)*

*Random Brag Moment: I finally figured out how to gargle when you can’t feel one side of your face. I was like a pro today compared to earlier in the week when I was a drooling fool.

Anyways after checking out the two sections of CDs I came away with these

05

All were $1.99 each. I do love that Goodwill doesn’t charge tax and the bags are free.

Toys

At the .99 Cents Only store they had a ton of Hot Wheels. They had a bunch of the Forza X-Box cars, along with mainlines, and some Halloween set. I already own a set of the Forza cars so I passed but I found an interesting car I’ve never seen

06

Thanks to checking out eBay and some other sites on Google I found out that this car was a chase car in this set and only available at Walmart. So when I got the original set of cars someone (reseller guy) got all of them at Walmart. Thank you .99 Cents Only for having them.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I really like the Cranberries. That Mike & The Mechanics album is great too.

The Cranberries was such a good band. I just started listening to the Mike album and so far I'm digging it. I like the jewel case because the actual tray is a different design than conventional CD jewel cases.

Oh yea, those are the old style, black trays. I remember when they were all like that.

There was a year, maybe '83 or something, when Genesis, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford all had hit songs in the top 20 on Billboards Hot 100 list. Too bad for Tony Banks who never hit it big on his own. (Genesis was Collins, Rutherford and Banks in the 80s).

Lupe Fiasco  that cheap? I should get it somewhere. I dig "Hurts Me Soul" since I heard it on Lost in Vegas's YouTube channel.

Yeah it is a little odd on what gets placed in the $1.99 section. I haven't listened to it yet, but the Kick Push song is one of the reasons why I added it to the library. I'll probably find other tracks that I would enjoy when I sit and listen to it.

I've loved that Mike and the Mechanics album since it came out. I think I had it on vinyl, cassette, and now DVD. I wore out the cassette, by the way. I've like all the former Genesis members' stuff when they started doing solo music.

Now that's a fan of an album right there. You know I don't think I own an actual Genesis album. That should be a group I should look for the next time I am browsing throught he mom & pop music store.
