A long time ago a friend told me that before Black Flag ever played a showed or advertised themselves, they spent a couple of months practicing and graffiti'ing the words Black Flag all over their home city. This led a lot of people to wonder "What the hell does Black Flag mean!?", and then they booked their first show and a shitload of people showed up simply out of curiousity and they actually got signed onto a record deal that night!

Not sure if it's true or not, but still cool!

I am not sure about that either. I do know they did a lot of self promotion even with SST. They were out there putting up their own flyers with paste that they made themselves. I have always had a huge respect for bands that put in that type of work.

Love those Decline of Western Civilization documentaries, and "Time Bomb" is one of my favorites. Also like the new stuff by Bad Religion, but the video ... could have been better. I've been listening to the song "Land of Competition" a lot lately. Don't know what it is, but that song is addictive.

Can't go wrong with Black Flag, and I especially like the one you posted. Couldn't escape Rollins in college, cause my friends were so into Rollins. They even named some stupid (probably dangerous) lift they were doing in the gym after "Gun in Mouth Blues" cause it came on when they did it.

Husker Du sounds like a prelude to Nirvana there. Wait, that's cause it is. Well, anyway, influence on later Nirvana songs is really obvious there.

The part where he said "we care about you, that's why we don't give a fuck what you think" in the Circle Jerks vid made me laugh, and Minor Threat was another favorite of one of my college buddies, and I enjoyed that one you posted too, even if "fucking or playing golf" is all I understood.

Well, I'm glad you posted these, makes my wasted trip to the GM Plant this morning not seem so bad. lol

Kobain was a huge Husker Du fan, at least that is what his journal said.

I have the Fun House album. If you are into punk that should be the first album you buy IMO.

Good picks.  I'm a fan of all these bands, although I haven't listend to some in ages.  Bad Religion is an old favorite, but I don't think I've listened to their last few albums.  I still plan to at some point.

I love Minor Threat, and Ian Mackaye is probably the closest thing to a hero I have, just because he's been in so many influential and great bands. Did you happen to see another punk living legend, Iggy (along with the Stooges), play on the Colbert Report last night?  I'm not sure how I felt about the new song (it was the first time I've heard it), but the man still has a ton of energy.

Hey thanks. I went them because most people do know them. I will put stuff up by them from time to time. I mainly try to put up the more obscure Punk bands so they can get more exposure.

I love that first video, the interview one. It showed how people felt when punk got going stateside. Black Flag was a huge band for me,I still listen to them a lot. Circle Jerks I saw once live, they kick ass. Rancid was one I thought was ahead of their time. Blew me away first time I heard them. Great picks today!

Yeah, I did too. It was a last minute add on. I am glad it worked.
