I was able to hook Snee up for free today. I have 4 spots left for Picklebits friends. Caveat. You don't get the cool stuff like access to the NES controller Joy Cons but if you don't care, ping me with the email address of your Nintendo account and get a year for free.

Does this go for just the Switch? I was wondering if online was shut down for WIi-U. I'm thinking of getting one for my birthday next month.

What all does Nintendo Online give you? I can't use a code, so I'm out.

First and foremost the ability to continue playing games like Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart on line. It was free up until now.

You also get a growing library of NES games which is actually the same emulator as used in the NES Mini, they just ported it over. Someone has already cracked it so that you can add your own roms.

I'm hoping that they'll do the same with SNES, N64, etc.

They also include special offers that are not available to anyone outside of the Switch Online community. Such things as wireless NES controller Joy Cons.

Also Cloud save so if your storage goes belly up you won't lose your valuable save data.

I've read a lot of bitching about having to pay but come on, it's less than 2 bucks a month. I heard one person say that they can't afford it. If you can't afford $1.66 a month how the hell did you afford a Switch and games for it?

That sounded exactly like PS+, right up until $2/mo or $24/year, where PS+ is $50/year.

I think some of these people are kids ...

I looked at the free trial this morning and you had to put in a credit card number.  I don't give my credit card number to a console, so I'll just have to get some Nintendo Points later and get the Online service.  It sucks having to pay, but at least it's only 20 bucks a year, which isn't TOO bad if you think about it.

Nope $1.66 a month is spare change. The family membership is even cheaper because you can add 6 friends to a family group and it's $39.99 USD a year.

The downside being that only the person who originally sets up the family can buy the special offers. But for $5.71 a year what do you want? I only needed 2 people altogether so that's why I'm giving the others away.

Props man for helping out folks here! I'll probably pick up a subscription later on this week because I saw Tecmo Bowl on there as well as other NES games I want to play. I'm not really into the online portion but I am curious to see the rest of the games available to play from the service.

I'm not into online games either but I wanted the retro stuff hoping that it will continue to expand. I also ordered the wireless NES controllers but they don't ship until December. My son will use the online parts.
